We all spend a lot of time moaning about what we don't like, so I thought it would be interesting to see what we do like about Sheffield.

I'll go first.

The Botanical gardens.
The art gellery on top of the library in town.
Weston Park Museum.
The cafe near Forge Dam that does great bacon sarnies.
Norfolk Park.
Riverlin.
Mamas & Leonis.
Fishcakes.
The view of the city from my house.

Arrgh...pedantic urges must be fought...

It's Rivelin...not Riverlin.

I'm very fond of:

-Rivelin
-A certain football stadium in S6
-The Fat Cat
-The Closed Shop
-The Old Heavygate
-The Corporation (when the DJ plays music rather than his last coughing fit in front of his mate's band jamming)
-The Showroom
-Bishop's House
-High Matlock
-Crookes
-The Kelham Island Victorian Xmas Market

Have they tackled the little problem of the two-dozen sofas to every mile?

The view of Sheffield from the top of Meersbrook Park, or from the Hallamshire Hospital. Its the next best thing to an aerial flypast.

As a family we like :

Hillsborough Park

The Millenium Galleries
Western Park Museum (looking forward to it re-opening)
The Fire Museum
The Peace Gardens (lovely way to spend a sunny day)

The Winter Gardens

And most of all we like the people!!

I wonder if they will keep all the old crap at Weston Park Museum, like that bald lion and the bozz-eyed polar bear.

I hope so.

Looking foreward to seeing the refurb though.

When I were small, they had a ruddy great digger made out of matchsticks...and the mummies scared me sh*tless!

I didn't have a problem with anything being scarey until they installed those chests of drawers with the giant stuffed spiders and assorted creepy-crawlies in, I'm terrified of spiders.

They creeped my other half out...the giant stag's head still puts me about!

I hope they keep all the fossils and crystals too, I loved those when I was a kid.

They can lose the china displays though, they were boring.

The thing that freaked me out as a kid was the hairs on the Sumo wrestlers!! Tiny hairs on their bodies made me wonder of they were real people!!! Very very odd as a kid!!!

I always found their eyes menacing!

I hated walking through the hall where they kept the primate skeletons also...the skulls and horns mounted on the far wall and the darkness...the stuff of a child's nightmares.
