has anyone had a problem with there airbags on a peugot 206 51 plate ( so pretty new )

quick background

bought from brand new serviced regulary

girlfriend was in an accident on the motorway she ran into the back of another car at around 45/50 mph and the airbags didnt go off ? any one else been in an accident and there airbags didnt deploy on the peugot 206

scary if you ask me you pay for all these added extras and then when you need them they dont work

Don't some Peugot 206 models have the ability to switch the Airbags on and off ?? Im sure in my mates he can turn them off using a key ?? :huh:

Have you checked if thats a possibility ?

Modern airbags don't go off unless really needed. The forces involved in that crash probably weren't enough to trigger the air bags. Saw something on TV once, there was a crash at quite high speed an the air bags didn't go off as it had decided it wouldn't have made any difference.

Only the passenger airbag can be turned off with a key, this is for people who want to put a baby seat in the front passenger seat.

Ahhh that'll be it then. Good stuff, still doesn't explain why the passenger side didnt go off tho :suspect:

It depends on age of car and models. Can't remember the program, probably Top Gear, but they crashed two cars in to a block at fairly high speed. In the newer car which had a 5 star safety rating the airbags didn't go off. I can't remember the reason for the changes to make them less likely to go off but it was explained and made sense. Think it might be something to do with the minor injuries the airbags themselves cause been worse than the crash itself. That may be wrong though.
