View Full Version : Clothes for small men
Fellrunner 28-09-2004, 09:16 I'm short (5'7) and not particularly broad (36" chest, 30" waist) and I have real problems getting clothes that fit. GAP is OK but I don't want to get all my clothes there.
Is there anywhere in Sheffield that does smaller sizes?
neeeeeeeeeek 28-09-2004, 09:20 TK Max in Orchard square often has small stuff, as long as you have the time to trawl through it! Also very chreap and they don't have really annoyong adverts!!
I'm probably about the same build as you, but im a little taller, like 5' 9"... but a 36 chest and 30 waist... I get most of my jeans from TX max and some of my t-shirts too...
its an arse being skinny, its really annoying when fatter people complain they cant get clothes and wish they was skinny... but when you are really skinny its hard to find clothes too!
The new TKMaxx at Crystal Peaks is very good, the menswear department is much bigger and the shop doesn't smell funny like the one in town.
some_boy 28-09-2004, 10:34 or just wear clothes straight off an action man?

I'm having the same problems. I'm 6'3" and used to be a 32" waist and 35" inside leg but now I've hit 30 I'm starting to 'fill out' a bit and am a 38" but you just can't get trousers, they're all for short fat men or tall thin men.
goldenfleece 28-09-2004, 15:49 You think you have problems? I am a modest 5ft 6" and size 28 waist.....its not jeans I have problems with as I go to Freshmans on Carver street, all size lengths for size 28 waists.....my problem is T SHIRTS......Even things marked SMALL come down to my knees.......
well I'm taller and for them to be a nice length i have to get large generally... which then they're rather baggy like hell on my body cus they're meant for like bigger chests and belly's!
but its all fine cus I'm a scruffy student who wears baggy jeans and tops anyways, so i dont care... but i like jeans and trousers that fit my waist... i think the whole "waist round your thighs and crotch nearly on the floor" look rather lame and stupid
designbunny 28-09-2004, 17:20 lol! Try being 6ft 2" needing a 38" leg in trousers... then no one in Sheffield does that!!

I do have that problem! T shirts and jumpers are always too long...
blue-kat 29-09-2004, 08:59 how about looking at some at the teen section at Hennes, also called B&H ( confusingly next to BHS at Meadowhall)?
the t shirts aren't quite so long in the teen range.
Or look for tight cut T's in 'small' size in mens? Gap extra small mens Ts are titchy - a nice fit on my slim 13 yr daughter !
gap is only place we've found trews for skinny son.
or get sewing and take in the seams + hem ?

If I can't get the correct size I just get something a bit to big, then take it to that alteration place behind the fire station in town.
They do a realy good job.
LoopyLou 29-09-2004, 11:22 my hubby is 6ft 5 with a 38 inch leg. he can't find any trackie bottoms anywhere in sheffield to fit him.
He ends up wearing shorts to play sport, which can sometimes be a bit cold!
Anyone any tips?

Try Primark...their T-shirts are always too short for me (average build) so they might fit you nicely.

I can't find trackie bottoms to fit me, and I'm only a 34" inside leg, someone must sell them for tall people, where do the Sheffield Sharks get theirs from ?
Lickable 29-09-2004, 12:09 I find problems getting hats to fit me. :(
