View Full Version : Where can I get a picture frame from?
I'm buying my mum a picture for her birthday and I can only find the print, without a frame so I am just looking for a plain black 60 x 80 frame.
Where could I get a reasonably priced one? I've had a look only but as it is quite large postage charges are ridiculous!
Thanks
Helen

Bottom of moor. Frameworks on the right just before Manpower building
Someone told me these have closed down (???)
birdsandbees 18-01-2007, 21:11 frame shop on chesterfield road, section between crown inn and everest
there is one on the moor near the old sports shop (opposite Debinhams) and one next to Damart just after the moor.
you could try Pinders, and if they cant do them, im sure they know where you can get one - very nice people in there!

yes they arnt bad here and a good price:)
yes i do believe frameworks has now closed down!:)
purdyamos 18-01-2007, 21:49 The Framework Gallery at the foot of the Moor has been having a clear out in preparation for a shop refit, I beilieve, though I'm sure it's still open at the moment - including a big sale.
There is probably some confusion, because for a while there was another frame shop - the one referred to above, near Debenhams called Frameworks but that shut after a few months.
I would second Wilko's def. Good luck.
Thanks guys, I'll try Wilkos!
SaxonLeigh 19-01-2007, 10:11 their is a frame shop in attercliffe on the side of the banners building which is really good. my mum used to take her picture things their when i was a kid & just before christmas i needed some things mounting. i thought it might have closed down but when i went to have a look he was very much up & running still. he had lots of fifferent frames & was very reasonably priced. i only payed £2 for two ratther large items mounting.
banesmabes 19-01-2007, 10:34 As mentioned, Frameworks at the bottom of the Moor are good (yes, they're still open, bought some last week), although they can be a little pricey. I'd try Wilkinsons first if it's a standard size.
priddypix 19-01-2007, 22:03 I tend to get basic ones for my stock size photos from Wilkinsons, but for any special size or something "nice" try Frameworks Moorfoot, not dead cheap but v.good!
crowefan 19-01-2007, 22:13 best shop I used is the acorn gallery shop in middlewood (just near the tram stop)
excellent value

Surely u have been to many camera shops picture frame shops in your time these are the sort of threads im on about we need some life in the forum if its picture frame shops what are the threads then blimey.

I've used these loads - mostly for bigger pictures. With the sale on there's some real bargains (I walk passed every day and have to resist the urge to buy something). They are a bit pricier than say Wilkos, but the additional costs are easily justified with the quality and framing service.

Well I'm only 19 and never bought a picture in my life so no I do not know where to get them from and I am asking for a little help. Camera shops don't stock larger framed, usually.
Sorry Corker, if you don't wanna know then don't read it, easy.

I was going to suggest Wilkinsons. They usually have a variety of sizes, shapes and colours/textures.
Otherwise, as someone else has suggested, Hobbycraft.
Sunshine, just ignore corkerswfc; s/he seems to be in training to be the new forum troll.:D
Thank you Ann, and to the other helpful people!

Don_Kiddick 22-01-2007, 09:24 You could make one out of partially chewed blackjack chews, moulded into the correct size & shape & allowed to re-dry.
OR - wrapping black 'tricians tape around a square made from papier maché
The glass could be made by sellotaping the plastic card panels together from Easter egg boxes - which should be in the shops anytime
 hope this helps
