Poem about park hill flats

There's no problem in posting the link here, pete_fc.

 

I couldn't resist reading your poems on the site, in addition to the one you highlighted in the link.

 

They are great......I'm still chuckling about the No.2 Bus, and Mr. Whitely. :)

 

I like the intros to them too. They set the background well, prior to reading the poems.

great to get a positive response, and good to have managed to set the right scene; always difficult with poetry. sometimes it needs a bit of explanation, but not too much or it becomes prose!

Yes, I too enjoyed your Park Hill one, it reminded me of the couple of years we spent on the Hyde Park flats just before they took them over for the student games.

yes i too went up hyde park, about ten years before i moved in, just to have a look.

 

went up to the top floor and was amazed.

 

they should never have demolished that big block...it was the most impressive building ever in sheffield!

i once said to a coupla kids, "don't throw those rubbish bags off the landings" as they merrily chucked 'em off edith walk.

 

"why not?" they grinned, and continued to lob 'em off, grinning away as they put people's lives in danger....

 

happy days....
