Hi,
Just wondered becasue i am off to manchester in a few weekends and wondered where's best to go, what parts of town? the best/safest club?
I've only ever been on Canal Street for a night out, is there anywhere else in Manc that has the same amounts of bars but from straight people?

Definetly make a visit to the bar in the new Beetham Tower. It's on the 23rd floor with some pretty decent views. Not sure if it's your thing or in your price range but it is quite exclusive, so dress well.
If you can, ask your newsagent to order you in a copy of Friday's Manchester Evening News - there's a terrific "going out" section that runs to about 20 pages.

What sort of music do you like? I like Northern Quarter area but it's very difficult to negociate where all the bars are if you are a first timer in the dark. Night and day, dry bar, bluuu all cool places... all around Tib Street. Mainly indie stuff.
Club wise I like South - Clint Boon's place - no pretention, he often Dj's there - although he's not great at it, he plays good records and last time i went Danny Macnamarra was there too! Watching him cringe as they played Embrace was fantastic! Get there early, it's only tiny and the queue is always awfully long but you do often have great fun in the queue!
Not sure about best night out. It's been ages since I've been out in Manchester. Apart from the ones mentioned, there's also the more commercial places near The Triangle in the city centre.
Northern Quarters is great. I think that area is considered more artsy and it's regenerating. Kind of like Division Street with The Forum.
Then there's a few places along Oxford St, which are more studenty, and less working prof.
