I need to fill in my tax return, probably going to do it online (using the form on the I.L.R. website).
Is that a good approach.
I don't have any complex business afairs but it's all rather scarey.
I am going to find out and sort all my reciepts and paperwork, so I am well prepared for battle ...
Be really cool to get some advive though too.
dont bother with the hassle, get an accountant, takes the pain out of it

Thing is ... I had an accountant last year (and year before) ... and they cost more money that they save.
Plus ... by the time I have gone back and forth taking recipts and what have you ... it also takes up a lot of my time.
I can do it myself ... I just neet to organise it a bit (sort out reciepts and what income i had) ... can't be that hard.

I spend 20 mins every Sunday, late afternoon to do me books. Better than trying to sort out months of the stuff all at once:thumbsup:
I file my return online - if you do this I understand you have extra time - this years needs to be in 30 December if you do it online.
If you submit a paper tax return yourself deadline is 30th Sept, If an accountant does it for you 29th Dec:thumbsup:

Yeah I just checked on the ILR site and you're right, can file it online a lot later than by paper.
I've been going through all my reciepts and ertering data in to excel. Going to do it for expenses and income, is that a good approach ?

You can save all sorts though working from home, friend does ring tones on a self employed basis, he used some on line accountant, they pointed out so much he would have missed including rent, gas, electricity, all sorts.. And all the time he saved which he could use constructively instead of going insane filling in forms!
