hi - i've just moved to walkley (nearer commonside). which are the best take-aways? and which should I avoid!?

The chinese takeaway near the church (can't remember the name) is pretty good... used to go there a lot and that was a fair walk up from the bottom of the hill so that's an indication of how good it was :)

goulastan (sp?) other end of South Road is a good Indian
Pizza King (or whatever its called now) on South Road does great Pizzas/Kebabs
Take 5 Cafe opposite Spingy is spot on
Chinese on South Road as mentioned above is also very good.
Supreme Grill on South Road (far end) does spot on burgers

I have had a couple of half decent takeaways form the Indian Chef in the past. I always preferred to take food away from there rather than eat in unless there isn't many in.

Well, Indian Chef I would say is first and foremost a restaurant but It is a little cramped when full. The point I make is that it's not your typical 'takeaway'. You could be mistaken for thinking that it didn't do takeaways at all. :|

I think this is the Sun Kong? I'd recommend it too. The Rising Sun on Commonside is also excellent. :thumbsup:

For Indian takeaways, I'd suggest the Gulistan on South Road.

Pizza connection in Hillsborough, cant beat it. Oh i miss that place. U know... they wont deliver to Hackenthorpe!!! pfff ;)

Jah Flong is a fantastic curry house. It is in Crookes but they deliver.
