Hi all,

Posted a bit back as I am re-starting the Health Science Access course at end of Jan... I started it in Sep 05 originally as I thought I wanted to become a nurse but now I am not so sure.... still want to work in NHS though so what else could I do on completion of the course (and it must have a bursary at Uni as I can't afford any other sort of Uni diploma/ degree)... I onviously will check this out with college etc. but wondered if anyone knew of anything else in the meantime? One person I knew wanted to become an ODP (Operating Department Practitioner) or something....

Please help I really don't wanna start the course again if the only thing worthwhile doing after is nursing as I have heard so many horror stories it has put me right off.

I did an Access course in Scxience back in 1995 which led to a Biomedical Science degree course at Sheffield Hallam.

As part of the degree I did a years placement in the labs at the Hallamshire and liked it so much I trained as a Biomedical Scientist after my degree.

If you need any more info please PM me;)

I would think the choice would be vast. Try this website.

I am getting towards the end of the course you started in Sep 05!
From our group people are nowing accepting uni offers for midwifery, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, ODP (Me:) ) podiatry, and the qualification could get you on paramedic studies, or any science based degrees, but only nursing, midwifery and ODP have non means tested bursary.
The other courses (excluding science degee) are eligible for means tested bursaies, so the amount you recieve depends on household income, and of course, uni fees are paid by NHS regardless of your income.
Hope this helps
