Is anyone else getting these annoying calls? I am wise to them and put the phone down as soon as I can. There was an article in 'The Times' about them yesterday. Apparently, they are not supposed to put the phone down until you hang up, and even then are likely to ring you again. I would advise anyone who gets on of these calls not to listen to their patter and just put the phone down.

Do you mean people who rings up to sell you shares ? No, not had one of these yet. A lot of people ring up about mobiles, and winning tickets.

hmm, i've had a couple of these calls, but it's pretty easy for me to spot who i don't want to talk to, as they rarely have my name right - not only am i double-barrelled, i also haven't used my maiden name by itself for several years, and for some reason it's usually that name that share pushers have acquired.

can't say it bothers me particularly, anyway. if i don't know who someone that is calling me is, i usually hang up within a few seconds...there's so much more to life than listening to people who just aren't interesting.

when they call me , i tell them to wait one minute while i turn the tv down , and put the phone down at the side.
about 5 mins later i just put it back on the hook.
they never seem to ring again

It was in The Guardian yesterday as well. They said that people most likely to recieve calls are those on a 'suckers list' - who have bought shares in the past which have plumetted to worthlessness. You may as well give your bank details to the King of Umbongo's private secretary who has secretly hidden TEN MILLION POUNDS in those emails.
