Hi there,

My son & his friend who are both coming up for 8 have expressed interest in starting to do some regular football training and possibly join a local team. How would I go about finding what teams they could join (not sure if they are up to match standard quite yet, it's more for fitness / social at this stage).

Had a look on the JunLeague website but can't see any contact details for any local sides. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try asking through their schools too. They often have a team, or know of the local youth teams. Our local youth team (Junior Fox FC) advertise for new members in the local free paper, so try looking in those sorts of places too.

Good Luck :-)

Its part way through the season now so you would probably struggle to find a team.

The kids Sunday leagues only run to about February / March so I would look in the Star or local free papers in the early summer months when they will be all advertising for new teams.

In the meantime you could look at leisure/sports centres for training or just friendly kick about session .

The FA's website is the best place to start.
