Did everyone have a good holiday, or was it a complete disaster. Anyone burn the turkey? Serious and amusing stories please.

D2J 11-01-2007, 10:31 I flew home with a minor hangover and bruising from the previous nights events, then my UK cash card broke so I was stranded without any sterling! Other than that it was great to be back :) Nice to be home for some proper food :D commuter 11-01-2007, 10:58 had a great christmas, new year was also good but a bit nerdlike ...... ....10pm was logged onto savastore ordering new parts for pc but was very chilled after a really hectic couple of weeks Jabberwocky 11-01-2007, 11:08 My Christmas, as it always has been since I started my life here in Leicestershire was brilliant! commuter 11-01-2007, 11:35 My Christmas, as it always has been since I started my life here in Leicestershire was brilliant! just in case you didn't know - sheffield is not in Leicestershire :hihi: Jabberwocky 11-01-2007, 11:41 just in case you didn't know - sheffield is not in Leicestershire :hihi: Leicestershire is a suburb of Sheffield. I insist it is! you've got me wondering if I'm there too  most of the last week I've been in cloud cuckoo land due to sleep deprivation and boredom Clare85 11-01-2007, 15:29 I actually forgot about it until I read this thread. SaxonLeigh 11-01-2007, 16:00 we had a fun holiday, the whole family went to scotland like we do every other year, we try to go to different places, mainly the highlands down the west coast. this year tho we went to lairg (about an hour north of inverness) on the east coast. i drove all the way & my partner bought a sat nav system a few months before. we had the post code & the sat nav was directing me spot on, that is untill we got near the house we were stopping in. it took us down this single track road, i didnt think nothing of it, we have stopped in plenty of houses in scotland in the middle of nowhere (i have whole other hillarious storys on those tho) down single track roads. so i'm driving & my partner is getting frustrated (we had been in the car for 11 hours), we phone my sister for the post code to make sure we got it right which it was. so i just followed the direction this thing was telling me (going in the opersit direction the road signs were telling me to go). we went 10 miles down this single track road for it to tell us to turn right, as i did i noticed that it was not even a listed road. it was more like a very narrow rally track, i just followed what the sat nav was saying for 2 & a half miles for it to tell me to turn around & go back. i couldnt believe the bloody thing, we had to go back down the 2 & 1/2 mile durt track & back the 10 miles we had just driven to get there. i was extramly tired, it was getting dark & i didnt know whether to laugh or cry. as we were going back down the single track road i saw something jump in the road so i stopped & to both sides of us were 100 of deer with masive antlers. unfortunatley the proper camera was packed away in the boot & it was just getting dark so the phone camera wasnt good enough. as we just going through this little village that we had been through, about 2 miles from the main road the sat nav told us to turn around & go back where we had just been. by this point i just turned it off & went back to the main road & followed the signs to where we wanted to be. once we got in to lairg we had to phone my dad to give us some directions to the house, he had to drive passed the house to get in to lairg & it was only a couple of miles from the turn we took to go down the single track road. we laughed about it a lot once we got there be we were exhausted. the other little things that happend we, christmas dinner was late because the house had the tinyist oven on which we had to cook for 14 of us yet mum still managed to burn the beef. we did see dolphins in the sea, that was a highlight! Agent Orange 11-01-2007, 17:55 To be blunt, it was dull and I didn't enjoy it one bit. To make matters worse, I had the worse cold ever and was away from my home comforts :( |
