I was working late last night and my wife told me that a chap came round the estate selling artwork, oil paintings etc. He said he was an artist and that an exhibition was closing and he was flogging off the last few paintings. I'd normally be wary of something like this but the wife was very taken by one of the oil paintings he had.
Has anyone come across this before and is it best to avoid ? Any thoughts welcome.

I'd say if she was taken by one of the paintings then he must be genuine as he actually had them on him.

If he was just random, and said he could show you some paintings etc, then I would be warey....but he sounds like a genuine dude to me

If you like it, buy it!

My uncle used to sell artwork (portraits painted on eggs mounted in a glass fronted box) door to door for £5 in Somerset, in the early 80s. He's now self made millionaire from painting- he contributes to loads of books and arty programmes, but he had to start somewhere and he worked really hard. Maybe people thought he was a bit odd though selling door to door, but they probably put it down to eccentricity or dodgyness rather than being broke.
