Litlemermaid.

She has kindly taken on the role of bunny mummy for two foster buns I have no space for. These two were being sold on ebay as a "free mystery gift" which came with a hutch, totally against the rules. She is collecting them tonight from Bradford and looking after them until I have space for them.

Here they are:

A blue eyed white mini-lop

and a small agouti

So will everyone please join me in giving her a BIG pat on the back.

THANK YOU!!!!!! :) :hihi:

Yes it has and the ad has since been removed but not before I got the sellers email addy.

There have been 5 similar ads alone this week, one of which has been reposted 3 times!

I think basically the people on eBay aren't all that bothered what's being sold on their site as long as THEY aren't losing money.

Are they sexed Sooz? I'm guessing the lop's a girl and the agouti's a boy. The lop is very pretty though, but give me an agouti over a lop any day ;)

Oh, and thankyou to Litlemermaid for helping out. I'd have helped too if I could :)

If you're looking for a home for these two I might consider it,
will they be able to live together.

It's really disappointing to hear that animals are being given as free gifts on eBay- that's just so morally wrong.

Glad to hear that Litlemermaid is stepping in to the breach to help out- thank you on behalf of the buns.

They are two does but we know very little else about them at the moment. Yes they are looking for a new home. X :)

Im in love with the lop it has BLUE eyes, soooo beautiful!

Medusa- The 'free gift bit' was partly a ploy to get around the ebay rules against selling livestock and partly a ploy to get shot of them.

She has collected them and they are in great condition and quite friendly. I think its possible the agouti is a Netherland or Nethie cross, its smaller than the lop. I cant tell you much else as I still havnt seen them in person.

...the petshop at the end of south road is giving away rats with cages at the mo.

can't say i approve of giving the animal free with the container, either. out of interest, please tell me the ebay lister didn't offer to post the bunnies?

Lol no. He did offer to deliver for petrol money though and only gave me the buns because I said it wouldnt cost him anything. Normally if they come from the owner rather than a rescue/abandoned you charge a small fee to take them. If I had done that here god knows what might have happened to them...:(

how did you find out about them

The rabbit united forum keeps tabs on all the ebay listings and free-ads. Generally any hutch add which pictures the rabbits in it and isnt a company is a likely suspect. You then have to read the wording carefully.

A member of RU will then email the seller suggesting alternative ways of rehoming and offering to take them for free and when the seller replies you have the email address. The ad is then reported to ebay to stop anyone bidding on it and the seller contacted again. Lots of rabbits have been rescued this way but there was a lady this week who refused to let two rabbits go for less than £30 so those two have remained unrescued :(

BTW these two rabbits were childrens pets!

Have sent you a pm,
I'm sat looking at a beautiful hutch and run on my garden, seems a shame nobody lives in it, when it could be doing some good.

Thanks, we are just really glad to help:D

Finally managed to drag myself away from the little beauties!

They are absolutely gorgeous girlies and really amusing to watch! their favourite pasttimes are definately exploring, eating hay and trying to dig a whole in my bed! Oh, and trying with all their little bunny hearts to stop me sexing them, they were so unhappy when we tried turning them over, we felt the benefit of their rather large back legs:hihi:

They will be leaving me on Sunday, I am so happy they have got a new home so fast, we thought they may be with me until at least the end of January, so thanks MARY POPPINS! You will love them, they are so soft:D

Here are some pics to keep you going
