HI all,
Molly is due for her scan around 19th of January to see if she is carrying babies. I phoned the vet to see if there are any signs we should be looking out for but he said there wasn't any.
I dont know If im imagining it but every since we took her to be mated she seems so tired all the time, not ill or anything and not off her food or water, its just like she cant be bothered to do anything (unless you bring her a ball out of the cupboard then she springs to life lol).
Anyone breed dogs before and noticed any signs at this early stage?
If she isn't pregnant then im putting it down to this time of year as I remember her being like this last winter but just not as bad.

i dont know much about animal pregnancy but if dogs pregnancy is anything like human pregnancy then she maybe. us humans (not all of us) feel extreamley tired at the begining of pregnancy because the body has soo much to deal with.
Takara had a phantom and her behaviour changed completely. She couldn't be bothered to do anything unless you took her for a walk, then she sprang to life. She kept hoarding things too and became very protective of her personal belongings although I think this tends to come later.
But yes I think they do change and become tired and just very calm. You don't notice it in some breeds, but knowing Molly, you'd notice her being calm lol just like I noticed Takara calm down during her phantom.

LOL sorry this reminds me of when my aunties dog had a phantom pregnancy, her baby was a squeaky cracker, she guarded it with her life!
Cats tend to get a bit spaced out and freakishly calm and placid during pregnancy too- maybe it's all the hormones. Doesn't appear to give them morning sickness though!

Daniel, Have you tried posting this question on Labrador Forum?
I used it all the time when the Chocador was a puppy, It's a very active site and they have a breeding section, so I'm sure someone there will have the answer to your question.
I know nothing about dog pregnancy, but I agree with SaxonLeigh, it sounds very much like early human pregnancy! Fingers crossed!
