I've got a Vivitar digital camera and I'm looking for a new (larger) memory card, I don't want to end up getting the wrong one (I'm looking on Ebay) and wondered if there was something specific I need to search for?

The one I have at the moment came with the camera and is quite small, it says SD on it, but I think that just stands for for 'secure data' or something similar?

Thanks!!!

Crucial Technology ( www.crucial.com ) have a memory configurator thing that lets you put in the model of your device and tells you what fits, so that might be worth a try.

If it says SD on it though, and is around about 4cmx4cm (I don't remember the exact size) then it's an SD card. Other types of card would be xD, CF and memory stick, and I think there might be a mini SD, but it should say on it.

Go to tesco - they sell cheap SD cards - and you can make sure its the correct dimensions

(SD cards are about 2.5 x 2 cm)

It is about that size mrmist, it doesn't say anything about mini sd on it though. I might just go into somewhere like Jessops and check what it is, don't have to buy from there though!!!

Thank you!

Look Here (http://www.amazon.co.uk/b/ref=olp_offerlisting_1/026-1753697-4565254?ie=UTF8&me=AG3U8YJTW0DES)

But use this link (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/homepage.html/026-1753697-4565254?ie=UTF8&tag=sheffieldforu-21&link%5Fcode=hom) if you buy, as the forum will benefit financially.

If it's that size and flat and says SD on it then it's an SD card. Checking it won't hurt of course, but yes, I'd probably avoid buying it from Jessops as you can get better deals.

This (http://www.amazon.co.uk/SanDisk-SDSDB-2048-E10-SecureDigital-Card-2Gb/dp/B000BQ7GW8/sr=1-12/qid=1168448821/ref=sr_1_12/026-7283330-3130801?ie=UTF8&m=AG3U8YJTW0DES&s=generic) is the one!!!!!!

Are there any recommendations for particular makes. I have a Vivitar camera and I want to be able to take the best quality photos I can with the equipment I have.

the memory will make no difference to the pics that you can take
itll just let you take more (plus you can set the quality to high and still get plenty on if the cards bigger)
depending on what size card you want i picked up a 512 sd other day £10 from asda- no postage and if owt wrong you just take it them back:)

Another question for you. . . . .

Can SD cards be used in other things apart from cameras, I'm looking and they're being advertised for Tomtoms etc and I need to make sure I get the right one. Is there something specific I need to look for when buying or or they universal for a number of different uses?

Ta!!
