If you catch the Hillsborough /malin tram home it may be delayed as the area around where the old Kelvin is shut off I had to turn around. Lots of armed police appear to have surrounded a car Ithink.

That link goes to an article about an armed siege in Doncaster - not quite sure how that is causing disruption to the trams...

As well as being psychic - the Star website is normally updated about midday, some 4 hours before this incident happened!

I was fairly close behind the tram which was stopped near to Pagets I could see a man with light brown skin and black hair (best not to say what you actually think on this board) At the edge of the road with hands above his head and being approached by officers. Ive seen police with guns before but never pointed at any object. Looked like a film set.
Suprised nothing been on news yet.

From todays Sheffield Star:

Armed swoop draws a blank.

SHOCKED neighbours witnessed an armed police swoop on a car in Sheffield which was believed to be carrying a crime suspect.

The 'pre-planned' operation took place on Langsett Road, Hillsborough, outside a builders' merchants at 3.45pm yesterday.
Officers talked to three or four men inside the vehicle but it is belived a man wanted in connection with a serious crime was not in the car.
A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: "There were no arrests but a car was stopped and three occupants were asked to get out.
"Armed officers were in attendance as a precaution."
Sketchy eye-witness reports suggested that the men in a silver Vauxhall Astra were surrounded by armed officers and police dogs on Langsett Road.
People said that nine armed officers spent 30 minutes talking to the men, all described as Asian and in their 20s, before they were whisked away in CID cars.
A neighbour said: "This is normally a safe area and it is scary to see police officers with guns."
