View Full Version : We need a place to train, will pay!
BlackVelvet 08-01-2007, 22:07 We are looking for a venue in or around Sheffield to train our running dogs. how we do this is by running two in harnessess in front of a 3-wheel bike (trike!), known as Bikejoring!. we can no longer use our previous venue (a reclaimed landfill) due to the apperance of methane gas on the site. we need a trail or track, either straight or a circuit of a mile or more, away from livestock and fequented by as few dog walkers as possible (just to avoid the dogs being distracted). we do no damage and the dogs are under full contol and never loose at any point. We usually train early morning, from about 7-8 am, preferably on Sat/sun for about an hour and a half. we do have full public liability insurance for this activity (never had to use it!). the area would need to be accessable with our van. we are willing to pay for the use of any privately owned site. any suggestions, or PM me

Have you tried asking the council seeing as it is a sport they may let you use somewhere
BlackVelvet 10-01-2007, 16:55 Thanks CV, might just do that, may come up with something.

have you tried to contact local landowners, usually they own property companies. i know a couple and will ask if any one of them has land that is suitable. what kind of land is required, i.e flat 'race track' or rough 'country' type?
BlackVelvet 13-01-2007, 18:52 we are pretty flexable on terrain, flat or cross-country are both suitable, or even a mix of both. we have contacted the forestry commission and going to contact the council this week, any other offers and suggestions are great.
Would a greyhound track be big enough?
go carting track?
stately homes grounds?
BlackVelvet 16-01-2007, 19:08 We have enquired about the local greyhound track. apparently a no-go, shame, would be ideal.
