I knew Mark Adams when I lived on Pye Bank Rd (the block opposite the Loco).
I also remember Alan Gaines (also a friend of Mark's) who was a good friend of mine until I left Pitsmoor in 82.

I remember reading about the accident in the Star. Only days before I had bumped into his sister who had said he was doing well for himself after coming out of the army.
I have lots of fond memories of riding our bikes (pedal) on parkwood springs (especially around the camel humps) as well as hanging around the YWCA ;) on pitsmoor rd in the summer.

Scarab.!!

Don't know if you remember a certain Howard Gayle, who lived in the houses opposite the Adams ?

Well both he and myself joined the Army together and before joining up we would go out running and cycling together all the time, with a guy called Rob jones.!

If you knew Howard..chances are you also new me as well...

Unfortunatly..Howard was also killed in a car crash in Germany in late 1988.

Again at very young age..just 26years old...We were great mates.!

I knew of a lad (didn't know personally, my sister was probaby his age or older ~ mid 40's now) called Howard who lived in the "old" houses just passed the "upside down" houses at the top of pye bank.
Did you ever play knock and run at the fox and duck pub to get chased by ??Brian?? the landladies son ? or go penny for the guying outside the fox and duck as well as the loco.
I remember when we used to go in the loco as kids, you weren't allowed downstairs where the "serious" adults where but you could mak mischief up and down the stairs between the floors.
Other things I remember, playing football in one of the top block yards, climbing in the weeping willows on stanley's field, playing rounders with the people from the adult education place next to stanleys, playing cricket on the field, fighting on the field (usually handbags at 20 paces cause it was a mate).
I also remember a gas explosion on one of the blocks.

Yeah,that was the guy.!

I'm 45,so i prob know your sister.?

What was her name.?

Brian from the pub,his mum was landlady there, called her Dorrean.!
That used to be my local, she used to sit at the side of the bar like Annie Walker did in the "Rovers Return".

John T I do know you, especially your bro kev who married a relation of mine, I seem to remember spending a new years eve with you in the toll gate at pitsmoor quite a few years ago. I lived on Andover Drive, Denholme Close then Pye Bank Road before moving to the posh end (longley) in 1982.
I went to Pye Bank Infant and Junior (the old school), Pye Bank Middle school then Herries. My name is John, my sis is Linda.
