carpetviper 08-01-2007, 19:33 Hi if you gave a friend my number to rescue a 11ft burmese python and a 5ft monitor lizard.
I thought their number had come up on their phone and I was going to call them back when I fornd the number had been on witheld.
I may be able to rehome the burmese straight away but I need a contact number.
Also if anybody has something to hold an 11ft burmese python that would be great plus I need somebody who might want him permanantly
Also I need to find a home for a 5ft monitor lizard any takers

:hihi: Wish i could help, but im afraid im an admirer from afar!!! BTW,is it true that monitor lizards of that size could eat a small child/baby or have i been seriously wound up?
carpetviper 09-01-2007, 09:03 To be honest I have not had much experience with monitor lizards but I possibly have a home for godzilla (not his real name) but I do need the guy to call me and leave his number.
Still wanting anybody who would seriously be interested in the burmese python.
What kind of Monitor is it Carpetviper? I used to have a Bosc Monitor, Bossy she was lovely but so lazy, would sleep all the time if given the chance! my ex-boyfriend ended up with her.
carpetviper 09-01-2007, 12:36 its a nile monitor i think 5ft
***** update on the python someone has aggreed to rehome him if I can get hold of the guy who called me *********
If you happen across a couple of female Green Anoles in your rescuing, gimme a shout :)
carpetviper 09-01-2007, 14:25 Will do
i have kept a few diffrent monitor species including niles and i hope when you rehome this nile it is going to very experianced keeper because niles dont tend to tame down and at 5 foot it is going to do you some damage
kneetrembler 09-01-2007, 18:03 I hope you have a spare room to keep it in as these guys need loads of room...... you need to sit down and had a realy good think before you consider taking the monitor or the Burmese on .... Burmese pythons have been known to kill grown men ....
I have kept snakes for some time now and have two Pythons Myself and no what they are capable of doing and should be given the uppermost respect
Take a look at this link

Look with all due respect which is not much here from me. I have found a home for the burmese python and the monitor. I rescue reptiles and home the ones I can. I do know these are specialist reptiles that is why I have found a home with someone who has years of experience what really has irritated me is you have 16 posts on here and you feel the need to speak out on something you know nothing about I have never asked for advice on keeping long term for these two reptiles but advice was given so before you feel the need to dish out any abuse to me i'd suggest you do a little reading and know what you are talking about I try to make sure that any reptile have a second chance and I would hope that people who know me on here know that I care what happens to these animals and I hope they give you a warning for causing trouble as we dont want it this part of the forum is about animals not for someone to pick a petty fight this is the last I will say on the matter    :loopy:
... get a life and grow up...
I hardly think someone who has not grown up would keep/re-home snakes and other reptiles..maybe you need to grow up and stop posting stupid things:rant:
Well said. No-one undertakes the rescue and rehoming of animals of any type lightly. It is a time consuming and expensive pursuit which exposes you to some of the most disgraceful human behaviour you will ever see. You need to be very mature and responsible to keep a level head and aptly deal with not only people but also injured and frightened animals, many of whom will have behavioural issues. I admire anyone who can find it within themselves to undertake such a task and will not stand by to watch some idiot shoot them down.
carpetviper 09-01-2007, 21:55    Im gratefull for all you encouragement and it makes it all the more worthwhile to not only know you are helping the animals but are being recognised for it too I have the highest respect for most of the people I chat with on here I dont want to name people sooz, strix, blues, lotti and baileys mum and there are many more but thanks and as i always said im only a link away LOL. ;)
I think most of you are missing the point that me and viper have in common! The need for rehoming and the specialist care that experienced keepers like us is here for the good of the reptiles nothing else. Viper has been good enough to tell it streight that he will find homes for these reptiles and not actually taking them on himself. Why have a pop at viper he has nothing to gain from it and like us is rescueing these reptiles for there sake!
Stick at it Viper m8 you will get alot of these problem people!
hope you didnt think i was having ago at you i was just advising that a nile monitor is a very aggresive monitor and they very very rarly calm down even if been purchased as young
i think helping reptiles is a great idea and wish you luck
baileys_mum 10-01-2007, 18:00  awww, you mentioned me :hihi:
Keep up the good work Viper, I myself am not a reptile fan but each to their own
We have people for just about any animal emergency now I think. Its great we can all pull together as a team
pitty we cant rehome naughty children as easy lol
carpetviper 10-01-2007, 20:31 to be honest baileys mum I would love another piggy but I dont have the room for another cage any ideas
baileys_mum 11-01-2007, 11:15 You can let them roam free, but not a good idea with the snakes about :hihi:
You can house them outside in hutches but I have mine in C&C pens in my dining room
carpetviper 11-01-2007, 12:33 well all my reptiles are kept in viv's ** Just had a flash of inspiration jess22 is giving me a rotostack at the weekend which will give me a spare rodent box which is about 12X24X12 Reckon that would be enough for one
baileys_mum 11-01-2007, 15:47 if your suggesting keeping a guinea pig in a 12 by 24 inch cage I suggest you rethink. that is not big enough for a piggie, let alone 2 (they are meant to be kept in pairs)
carpetviper 11-01-2007, 21:28 I thought it would be our pig must have been a small one or I am under estimating the size of the enclosure.
baileys_mum 12-01-2007, 09:17 My pigs if they are alone are in 37 by 18 cages at a minimum.
