View Full Version : Yusuf Islam..Get lost.
PaulTansley 22-09-2004, 11:30 In the news today is Cat Stevens,,Yusuf Islam has been refused entry to the United States.
On what grounds can they do that, it sounds to me that the Americans are getting slightly paranoid.
Islam did'nt do himself any favours supporting the death of Salmon Rushdie but whats this latest nonsense all about.
Should he have been allowed through or have they done the right thing and turned him away.
I think they should let him in.
I believe that the US authorities have referred to some statements he made some time ago that have been seen as being supportive of violence.
alchresearch 22-09-2004, 19:59 He's been accused of giving funding to the terrorist group Hamas.
So much for being innocent until proven guilty.
dragonsoup 22-09-2004, 20:06 It is correct that a country should be able to decide who enters their territory. So the slimy little c... will be allowed back into the UK I suppose.

alchresearch 22-09-2004, 20:15 If you ask me, he should have been locked up long ago for writing "Father and Son" and inflicting misery on us, courtesy of Boyzone.

uncleheed 23-09-2004, 12:57 He was thrown out because he has a criminal record.
Morning has broken
The US has as much of a right to decline entry as the UK has. It might be unfair to those declined, but Americans are a bit jumpy right now so its foolish to expect to be welcomed into the country if you are known to have publically commented on issues concerning freedom of speech.
Joke Straw should have known better than to make a fuss about it.
Didn't he sing "Leaving on a Jet Plane", or maybe "Let 'em in" ?
Any other songs he might have covered ?
PaulTansley 23-09-2004, 20:59 Hey, you lot I'm trying to put a serious thread on here.

Phanerothyme 23-09-2004, 22:34 He is a free thinking Muslim Englishman who works hard on behalf of those less fortunate than himself. He is also an accomplished musician and songwriter, although I do prefer Teaser and the Firecat type stuff.
Risk to national security - I doubt it.

I must say, Yusaf Islam is before my time! No he ain't. Cat Stevens may be though, but its not about him is it.
the old saying no smoke without fire springs 2 mind. the problem with him is hes a reclusive person with quite extreme views and beliefs and if the yanks dont want him then i think theres more 2 this story than meets the eye.
