Hi All,
We are just about to start a bathroom overhaul and wanted some advice on back to wall toilets.
Due to the shape of our bathroom we can only position the toilet under the window. Do you know if it's possible to install a concealed cistern in the cavity of a wall? If so, can it be done under a window?
Also, we are looking to replace the shower tray and install a bi-fold shower door. Does anyone know of a reasonable supplier?
Any advice would be much appreciated!

If you conceal the cistern then just make sure that it can be accessed easily in case any repairs need to be done. I've seen these concealed cisterns in a few places and there is usually a big panel on the wall which has to be unscrewed. However when I was looking at new bathroom suites I'm sure some cisterns were hidden behind tiled walls which made it look as though things would get very complicated if a washer needed replacing or similar.

On most modern houses the cavity will be between 50mm-75mm wide and the inner wall usually 100mm thick so it would be difficult.
The cistern would usually be concealed behind a stud wall with a back to wall toilet and as WallBuilder says some sort of access for maintenence should be made.
Would a close coupled cistern not fit under the window? they sit directly on the toilet.

As above, an average close coupled pan/cistern will only be around 650mm from the wall to the front edge and around 800mm total height.
Fitting a concealed cistern in a cavity wall is a no-go for a number of reasons. It would not fit the thin cavity, you couldn't access it for maintenance, to install it you would have to take away part of the internal wall, there may be cavity wall ties in the way etc. etc.
Thanks for your comments.
A close coupled toilet will fit under the window but we were keen on the back to wall minimalist look as our bathroom is tiny! I never gave any thought to the maintenance etc, so i'm glad I seeked expert advice.
Once again, thanks for your help!
