Unless you have the luck to find a relation or someone who has already researched these families, specific questions generally work better. Can you give us some names and dates?

Hugh

Sorry Pauly, never knew his fathers name, it was always mister Drake.
But he lived at about No 20 Studley Rd, you could perhaps find out who was living at that address at that time through Genes.

retep - how do you do this??
I "googled" Kelly's street directories, but couldn't find anything more recent than 1910.
If I were to pm you an address, would you be willing to look it up for me?
(or tell me how do do it?) (1948 / 9)

Thanks in anticipation!!

I worked with, many years ago, a Maureen Skelton who lived in a small sweet shop on Ridgeway Rd.
She said her grandfather Skelton owned a lot of land in Woodhouse and the fields on which they built the council estate were his. They are now named Skelton Lane etc.
Not sure this is of help.

Hi Pauly1664,
I research people's family trees for them for a small fee. If you are interested in using my services pm me your details and I will look into it for you.
I have managed to trace my family back to 1600's and have just undertaken some work for another person and traced a branch of their family back to 1620. It's up to you -no pressure.

Thanks, Hennypenny, I'll have a proper look at this site later on, when I've got a bit of peace and quiet!
(How odd - I used to be called "HennyPenny" where I worked!)

Thursday.

My Dad was friends with Drakes of Dolphin Street, Darnall, in the early 1900s. See Dolphin Street memorial thread on here. (Sorry this is 'late', am a relative newcomer and still trawling my way through all old threads!)

Pauly1664 - if you look at 'Does Anyone Remember Dolphin Street' someone called Bobbers says he is the grandson of Drakes from Dolphin Street. Might help.

My great grandfather was Fredrick Skelton who came out of Sheffield in the 1880's...there were lots of Skelton's there then. His brother CT Skelton remained in Sheffield and founded the CT Skelton and Co small farm implements factory.

Are you Skelton ?

JManCan

obviously the family name has changed. Most of the Skelton's of my family who came over to North America from Sheffield in the 1880's are buried here in Hamilton, Ontario.

Hi pauly, probably not the 'booth' you mean but I'm looking for Gordon Booth, lived at 53 Fawcett Street in 1947.
