Hello,,,
I am 22 and left college half way through,, which i regret.
And although i have a great job now,
I am wanting to do a part time evening class in English.
I have searched the net and am confused by the million different courses out there.
Is there a Uni course or something that any one knows about ,, a couple of evenings a week.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
Kat
Sheffield College offer GCSE (and possibly A-Level) english courses, not sure if they are evening ones though. Check the Adult Learning centre at Sheffield Uni too... :)
there are many adult learning courses here:
http://webcam.wea.ac.uk/courselist.asp?tsearch=&vLocation=Sheffield&hLocation=Town&psearch=&ssearch=All&lngLBound=1&lngUBound=20
also at sheffield college (as geoff mentioned):
http://my.sheffcol.ac.uk/
also at sheffield university:
http://www.shef.ac.uk/till/
(you'll have to be quick there - their courses start next week, but there are probably still places - if you give them a call they're really helpful.
hope that's of some use

you could try searching for a course using the learndirect national learning advice line here:
http://www.learndirect-advice.co.uk/
or give them a call on 0800 100 900 for un-biased information on suitable courses in your area.
They are genuinely helpful and the advisors are well trained and whose role is to help advise you and not try to sell you courses or promote particular courses.

I did a night school course with the Sheffield Workers Co-operative (I think that was their name). The price was minimal and the teacher was obviously doing it for the love of the subject rather than the money.
I dont know if they have a website, but I picked up their course list from the entrance of the Central Lendig Library. Courses should be starting around now too.
