View Full Version : What's on your walls?
Do you have pictures, mirrors, posters, stick-its or whatever on your walls?
If pictures what are they?
I try to collect prints of places I visit to remind me of happy holidays etc. I also have loads of framed pictures that my kids have done and also pieces of writing.
My walls are plain as I can't stand busy wallpaper. Whats yours like?
Just took delivery of this painting from Norway, looks like someone screaming, got it on eBay... :suspect: :heyhey:
FairyNormal 21-09-2004, 12:49 I'm not a huge fan of wallpaper so all walls are plain painted. I'm not a 'fussy' person in general so have few pictures on my walls.
Kitchen has picture and things the kids have made/drawn/painted.
Living room has two pics of the kids, one round mosaic framed mirror and a poster of the cycles of the moon.
Bedroom has a Torture Garden May Fetish Ball Poster (from when they came to The Casbah in 2001) a Clangers Calendar and a big soft Hong Kong Phooey Hot water bottle cover!!
My bathroom has a lovely piece of hand tie dyed somalian material on one wall.
Thats it.
Not one for ornaments or 'dusties' as a friend used to call them ('cos all they do is collect dust!!). I guess I have simple taste really.
I have a massive panorama of New York Harbour, a japanese flag, a union jack, gig tickets/playlists/plectrums (all from respective gigs) and a Mull Historical Society Poster

Sam Miguel 24-09-2004, 16:11 I have lots of pictures of Sheffield scenes and buildings, especially local pubs, dotted around the walls in my home.
They were all painted or or drawn by myself in the early nineties when I seriously contemplated taking up this kind of work full-time.
I sold 'pub portraits' to many of the local licencees, some of which can still be seen in the local pubs.
Other pictures in my house consist of my wife's tapestries and cross-stitch masterpieces.
Oh, and there are some impressionist paintings by Paula Nightingale on the staircase.
Been in the States for 40 years now, most of my pictures are from England, my favorite is a small oil painting of Foggatt Bridge that my mom gave me 30 years ago, two others i treasure are pencil scetches of Sheff University and Sheff Town Hall, also a big oil painting my husband bought in Coles 40 years ago, very unusual as it's of a ship on the high seas, but at night time, very dark looking, i have i museum light over it, we get a lot of compliments on it.

Sam, did you know Conrad Lorenz (local artist from netheredge, not the philosopher!) He used to to paint and draw similar sort of work you describe. We both used to (amongst others) sell our work outside endcliffe park roundabout on sundays at the 'artists corner' I made a 'part time' living on it ;)
