just wondered....i'm waiting for the solicitor to get back to me, we had been hoping to exchange contracts tomorrow, but he hasn't rang to let me know whether that's happening or not, so until that's confirmed and the completion date properly set i'm not too willing to pay a deposit for a removal van. given that the plan was to move next thursday and it hasn't been confirmed yet, am i actually going to be able to get one??:rolleyes:

so, for those of you who have moved using a removal company recently, how long in advance did you book them? i've read somewhere that you should be booking 6 weeks in advance (*scoffs derisively*)...

I would contact them as soon as possible and then ask them their advice when they come around to give you a quote. I can't remember when we did it. I think it was around 3 weeks in advance, but I also knew that we were moving on a weekday which is less likley to be booked up.

We booked 2weeks before after the contracts were signed and got a ticking off from the receptionist that we should have called earlier. But we got a van and 2 strong men and we wanted a Friday which is the most popular day.

phew, spoke to sbs earlier, and he thinks they'd still be able to do thurs or fri for us next week, but only at such short notice because it's january and therefore quiet.
