View Full Version : Star Wars Trilogy DVD set - Released tomorrow!
genesiscouch 19-09-2004, 22:18 So who's buying the Star Wars Trilogy DVD set that's officially released tomorrow? There's been a huge amount of hype over this especially because of the changes Lucas has made to the originals.
There's a big article here all about it...http://www.hometheaterforum.com/trilogy/trilogy.html. Some changes: Ian MacDiarmid now plays the Emperor; Boba Fett now has the voice of the guy who plays Jango in Ep 2; no more Luke scream at Cloud City; Hayden Christensen replaces Sebastian Shaw in the "spirit" scene in Jedi.
neeeeeeeeeek 19-09-2004, 22:21 Got forced to watch half of it last weekend as a friend bought the region 1 version. Soon to be forced to watch it all again when house mate get this one in the post! Yea, your right, some blokes voice is different apparently, I did'nt notice...

im debating if to get the double box set version ones got the dvd and the other has the three soundtracks on cd also if you get the box set from hmv it comes in gold packaging but anywhere else its silver:thumbsup:
neeeeeeeeeek 19-09-2004, 22:34 Well, it was not region 2. Might have been Cananian but thought it was American... Came in a bix with silver writing on i think and it arrived last Saturday because the Bleedin' postman woke me up to sign for it and it was not even my house! GRrrrrr
genesiscouch 20-09-2004, 00:51 Cananian eh?
Well it's out now. Amazon are showing it as available for delivery. Will have to see how Lucas in his old age has mucked about with the gems of my childhood ;)
If you're looking for a good price on the DVD box set check out the link in my sig as you can get it for as low as £23.99 with next-day shipping from Amazon.
My copy arrived about an hour ago in teh post.
Beastieboy 20-09-2004, 19:34 Mine arrived at 830 this morning and I don't belive it I got a faulty bonus disc:mad: The photots and posters will not come up on screen. Sending it back tomorrow. I may get a refund and get the HMV version even though I have the soundtracks, I just like to collect things.
Just finished watching Empire Strikes Back as I write.
Debating whether to put Return of the Jedi on given that I have to be up at a reasonable hour in the morning and it's half 9 nearly now.
genesiscouch 20-09-2004, 20:39 Where did you buy it from Beastieboy?
Beastieboy 20-09-2004, 21:10 I got it from Amazon. Just finished watching A new hope and it sticks in two places for around 40 seconds. Not sure if it the player or dvd, will try it on another then see.
We bought this through play .com for £27 an was worth every penny, it was a delight to sit and watch all three over three nights, any one else seen them.
The new bits are a bit obvious, but who cares they are classics.
I pre-ordered my copy off Amazon ages ago, recieved them this past Monday.. Top class sci-fi, and the new bits make it all even better IMO.
Beastieboy 25-09-2004, 18:58 I thought my copy was faulty, then I found out it was my dvd player. Phew, got worried I would have to send them back.
I'm a bit really sad having three different versions of this trilogy. The original re-release, then the remasterd version on video and now the new dvd:cool:

Even I'm not that sad... I just have the special editions on video and the new DVDs.
Beastieboy 26-09-2004, 17:58 The originals were bought for me as a gift. I found the special editions for £5 in cash exchange. That's my excuse and i'm sticking to it. I suprised myself when I didn't go for the gold edition with the soundtracks (I only have one copy of them...for now):D
Got the new trilogy box set for £10 4 months ago from off the
t'internet.. perfect copy as well.
Wouldnt pay £35 for it though.
Have had a copy of the trilogy box set for 4 months now that I bought for £10.. top stuff!
