ok people im thinking about setting up a night for under 18s but first of all to maket sure that we are going to appeal to the right market we want to no what you want and why? we no corp do an under 18s night but noticed it only really appeals to people into the rock side of things so all you under 18s out there what do you want ie what days do you think are best to hold a night ,what music you into, what would u like from an event?!!?!!? we wanna give you summit to keep you of da streets causing mahem!
p.s. no silly comments please
I used to Dj at an under 18's (right laugh if was too), and I worked in a big night club that held under 18's nights. The problem was that is very expensive to run, you need a lot of extra door staff, and obviously you have very little revenue from the bar. The ones that were held in the big club, were run by an independant company, that made money from other ways.
Not meaning to sound too negative bean, because if you can get an enormous turn out, you can make some money.
As for what they like, freebies, so a bit of local sponsorship can be good.
If you're planning on big time, try and get up and coming bands, who will work for minimal money, to do a little set in the middle.
Hope that helps.
good luck

cheers djash we have alot of these sort of things planned just trying to find a sutible venue that will not ask for stubid amounts of money cause we no we can fill it with the stuff we have planned
As Ash says, you need a lot of door staff for these sort of events, which means big money, and without the option to subsidise the security with drinks prices. Even Corp can probably only afford to run it, as they do it in house and can make money off the bar on their other events to fund it.
Good luck finding somewhere though, sounds like a good idea.

i have a mate who works in the security bussiness so door staff will defo not be a problem but the only problem is a venue especially when clubs who have trown these sort of events in the past have little faith lol. if you no any clubs tht may be worth looking into feel free to post!
what age range would you be looking at???
I mean, what appeals to a 13 year old is very different to what appeals to a 16/17year old....
I think this kinda night will be very difficult to run for a profit, the club would need to be easily accessible for kids from across the city, so city centre springs to mind, but to hire somewhere in town will cost the earth i'd expect.

we are looking at 15 - 17 yr olds and are looking at city center venues as we feel that with out a doubt it is the best location conntacted plug, leadmill, gatecrasher, student union and stars on queens rd so far plug have already said no due to problems in the past and stars which we were really gunning for) have recently changed there license so cannot charge people an entry fee which is no good to us because revenue cannot be colleceted from behind the bar
It is going to be pretty difficult to attract 15-17yr olds. In my experience all of the ones that look old enough tend to go clubbing and the like, and the ones that don't stick to house parties etc. I first went down west street at fourteen I believe. and my younger brother is the same. The fact is Britain has a big drink culture, and it isn't limited to over 18s. You might have better luck aiming at a younger age group. 13-15 or 16 possibly.
