The brewery was on Canklow road Rotherham in the 50's but gone by the early 60's.

In 1876 Robert John Bentley brewer and maltster old brewery West gate Rotherham could be the founder.

I used to go in he Horseshoe in the 1940,s and in those days it was known as "aphatis" (spelt as pronounced) does anyone know how it came by that name. Several pubs were known after an ex landlord, like the Carlisle Hotel was always known as "Swainees" after a landlord named Swain in the early 1900,s

He was a dapper little man whom we used to see walking his little dog. He was always smartly dressed . Sometimes he would give us children a penny.

My Dad always called the Horse shoe Hafferties. My Aunt had her wedding reception there about 50years ago, i seem to remember that it was to the side of the pub but i could be wrong
