I am thinking perhaps you should take a holiday somewhere where they have public executions of each and every type, and then witness them yourself. Then, and only then I would say, are you in a position to make a choice.

as for the poll it sucks, (as usual) because you have not included a range of options.

I don't think capital punishment will ever come back anyway so there's nowt to worry about.

I’d create a small island and put Sid in charge, he could enact all the polices he wants with no opposition from anyone, drinking strictly controlled, no smoking, police outside every bedroom, Vanilla Sex only etc etc.

Then send the perps to this island and wait while they either commit suicide or are bored to death.


Not really, I am very anti the death penalty, but for some reason that wasn’t an option in thisfair and balanced poll.

Actually I am pretty anti-death penely myself. I didn't say that I would welcome the return of capital punishment, it was only a poll about different methods. People should make assumption about my view which I have not expressed.

I think the reintroduction of corporal punishment and public humiliation is the way forward. One a great idea - Tattoos on foreheads saying, "I'm a dirty chav"
or
"my wages are paid into my bum hole." *
nothing like "I'm a bank robber", which could become cool.

Put them on a big brother style cable channel where their punishments can be put to vote...

A: Made to sit is a bath of stale effluent for a week.
B: Forced to drink a litre of dog urine every hour
C: Be hung from the minute hand of Big Ben by his left toe for a month.

Chain gangs should be made to do humiliating jobs, like community service, but worse. Things like cleaning the streets in a gimp outfit (with the face exposed) with a tooth brush and a small paper bag.

Sport facilities would sell out with the reintroduction of naked gladiatorial battles between starving violent crime offenders. Weapons could include giant rubber dildos and plastic daffodils. The winner gets to eat a meal.

The most serious offenders should be made to read the entire Sunday Times, cover to cover, and examined on it every Sunday night. Failure would result in being forced to read the Independent for the rest of the week.

Life sentence cells could have a “break glass to gain access to a really tasty cyanide capsule” - it would be voluntary hence avoiding the need for capital punishment.

These are just a few spiffingly good ideas.
