Well, at the risk of being blunt, it's no one's business except the user's concerned and the Admin team as to who has been permanently banned.

However, EXCLUDING people banned for spamming the Forum, the number of permanent bans easily runs in to double figures, and te majority of these permanent bans have been issued in the last 12 months.

Because we respect the confidentiality of users, we tend not to list reasons why people have picked up permanent bans, but basically reasons include repeated trolling, threatening Forum users, offensive and abusive posts and PMs, repeated racist or homophobic posting - it's a long list. In most cases those who're permanently banned will have received previous short bans and will have had warnings on threads, by PM or by email.

AND - people concerned have the right to appeal to the Helpdesk and argue their case.

Having met the man in question, Godzilla and having read his posts I find it hard to imagine that his offence could be anything like as unpleasant and deserving of a lifetime ban as some of those who've been shunted out. The software keeps a list of banned users, but we don't make it public. We're not in to 'name and shame', and we don't discuss bans, the reason for bans, who's been banned, etc.

And that's all I'm saying. It's like Fight Club - first rule of Fight Club - we do not talk about Fight Club.

i arranged to meet a forummer at a night in town in spring that i wanted to go to but none of my mates were available to go to...we've been friends ever since. so much so that we ended up going away to london last month for a weekend on the town.

ive also met other forummers at the meal meets, some of whom i cant imagine not being friends with now...theyre stars. when i went to my first meal meet in summer i didnt know anybody and im so glad i plucked up the courage to go...even if it did feel like my first day at school again at the time! lol

as for being asked out randomly, no. would i accept...probably not, well not without a certain amount of checking and a safety net!

The most successful "meeting" has been with the lovely Pussycat whose house I've just come from. We are good mates.

And I've met another few forummers who I occasionally go for nights out with and a few I've met in passing. :)

Meeting people from the internet is no different to meeting someone in a club - probably easier as you can psyche people out beforehand.

Personally id have no problem meeting a random person. although i do like to get to know people a little before meeting them. but being a guy im alot safer than a girl would be.

Mind you. i never have been asked, and i very much doubt i ever will be lol

You just talk to people like you would do anywhere else. Once you've been posting for a while, you get to know others and they get to know you. You'll soon find out who you have things in common with and who sounds interesting.

Every time you post a reply on the forum, others are reading that and forming an opinion about you, just like you are with them. In some ways it's like meeting up with someone that you've known as a friend for ages, since you know so much about each others' views.

I found out two weeks ago that one of my xs from way back was on this forum but i did not meet him on hear, Ive not dated no one wile i been on this forum, I met my last two serious xs of the CB radio, and that was bad enough with how many people had to know everything and people sticking up for anouther after a split even when they not met and you see it on hear too. Actually, a number of people have tried to invade my privacy on several occasions - they all know who they are, and to be frank it just all got rather tiresome. :)
