neeeeeeeeeek is right though, it's a chip shop, not a traditional chinese food takeaway.

I use this place too, it's extremely nice and the curry sauce is one of the best in Sheffield.

that is my favourite chippy in the whole of sheffield, excellent food and big portions.

Although the other day I had gravy on my fish & chips and the gravy was way too strong and thick and spoilt the meal somewaht.

I quite fancy a nice fish form there tonight, I'll stick with the curry sauce this time though.

The chippy on Shoreham Street is better, the fish are the size of dolphins.

There's another excellent chip shop on Chesterfield Road just next to Blockbuster video. I prefer this one slightly to the chinese one as their fish is pretty much like the ones you get at the seaside chippy's (very fresh).

The chips are perfect, the sausages are proper chip shop ones and the batter's nice.

Try it.

Abbeyfriar used to be the ones to go to, but over the last few years they have gone really down hill. I don't use them too much any more.

And as for the worst chippy in Sheffield, there's one at Meadowhead next to a car spares place (opposite the golf course in Greaves Park) that sucks the big one. I have eaten there twice and each time it was pretty poor. The chips were soggy, on one occasion the bottom of the fish cake was burnt and the batter seems to have a funny after taste to it, not sure if the fat needed changing or something? Not going back there again.

Two Steps on Sharrowvale Road is excellent, try their home made pies and Hendersons relish! (get in early as they are busy and pies sell out quickly).

Jimmy's on Huntersbar is also good. You can't beat their 'special' of sausage, chips and a choice of peas, beans, curry or gravy in a tray for £1.10

Then there's the devenshire chippy on Devenshire street. Again a good chippy with good prices.

And the Broomhill Friery is excellent too. Good prices, aimed at students I think but we normal folk eat there too. Good selection of different foods here too. But don't confuse it with Millenium or the green one across the road from it, they are nowhere near as nice.

I promise I only have chips sometimes, all this 'experience' has taken years of travelling and sampling.:o

they do them on the east coast but you have to ask for a sheffield fish cake or you get a rissole

I miss 'em like mad! The only reason they have them on the East coast is to cater for Sheffield folk on their holidays!

I recently went down south and was shocked when I asked for a fish cake I was presented with a flat burger resembling object. Once more I went back the next day and asked for a Chip Butty to only be presented with a bag of chips and a pathetically sized bread roll in a packet.

Not all is lost I also went to Rick Steins Fish & Chip Shop and that is by far the best I have ever encounted.
