Hi, welcome to the first tri board! I know a few of us on here are pregant after mc's, but only 1 or 2, that must have been heartbreaking for you.
I'm not registered with a GP yet as I'm moving house this weekend, so I went to the new medicare walk in GP centre in town and explained about my spotting and cramps and they just booked me into the EPAU with no fuss. You don't have to be registered there, so if you have no joy with your own GP then give them a try, they really are very helpful.
Good luck!!

Hi Binty, spotting seems to have stopped again but I've had some nasty cramps and stretching pains when standing up too quickly, I'm hoping it's just things growing and stretching!
Had some nasty nausea walking round Morrisons this morning so I'm still 'feeling' pregnant!
I'll be back on to let you know what happens at the scan....feeling strangely calm, but I'll be bouncing off the walls come tomorrow lunch time!

When are you going back for your next scan?

*binty*
04-05-2009, 19:10
I hope everything goes well!

I'm due back there Friday at 4.30pm, it's going to be a loooooooong few days! :hihi:

I'm just grateful I've got the house move to keep me occupied, been packing boxes most of the weekend so it's not been too bad thankfully!

Good luck Go-Go. i'm sure the scan will confirm all is well and put your mind at rest.

I have one on thursday (will be 7 weeks) and am starting to stress that they won't be able to find anything and tell me I'm not pregnant after all. That's in spite of my b**bs killing me, and feeling sick and exhausted all the time! I guess it's just unavoidable that we're going to worry!

Hi Ladies,
I have little sharp pains in what feels like my filop tubes. Its just a little niggle every now and then but enough to be noticable.

How early can you get a scan. I thought it was 10 - 12 weeks so haven't rushed to book in with my doctor - is this the case?

Take it easy.

A very tired Strawb

so then ladies.what would you like?boy or girl....i know eveyone says "we dont mind"....but i defo had a preferance when i was pregnant with my daughter......i really, really wanted a girl, because in my partners family its all boys...when i went for my 20 week scan they were all saying "good luck with the scan, but its defo a boy"....then during the scan he asked if we'd like to know the sex,i said go on then but everyone thinks its a boy(even though in my heart of hearts i knew it was a girl, but didn't dare hope!!)he said some one is here to prove you wrong...its a girl!!!wow...what a feeling that was!!!
so this time round we have said to everyone that "we dont care what we have"but ill admit to you guys...."cos i can!!lol".....i really really want a boy!!!!
and we have names too!!!does anyone else?....we have maddison for a girl and alfie for a boy!!

Hi all well im kinda worried now I was rushed in for a emergency scan friday and bloods the pregnancy sack was there but they couldnt see anything in it, They thought I might have my dates wrong so said the hormone level in my blood would give them a better idea.
But the level was right for my dates so now they think it might be a eptopic pregnancy I have to wait till friday to have another scan and if there is no change then its bad news, They also say it could be twins but one in the sack and one not its going to be a long wk

how is everyone else???

Hi Ladies

It's not good news, sounds like I'm in the same boat as you BMW. My scan today showed an empty sac, so had one lot of bloods today and going back Thursday morning for the next lot to see what's going on.
My spotting was very light though so I had high hopes, but hey, these things happen. I'm pretty sure my dates are correct so I'm not holding out much hope to be honest. :(
Had a few tears in the car but me and my fella have had a good talk and I'm trying to stay positive.

I'll keep you posted on the bloods though.

Hope you are all doing well!

BMW - if you want to chat, please feel free to PM me hun....take care.x

Corbyn: have you been keeping that under your hat, or did I miss an announcement? Or, worse, did I already congratulate you and forget? (Baby Brains)

strawb: Have you ever suffered from pain when ovulating? It has a german name. Anyway, I do, and suffered the same pain throughout both pregnancies. Sometimes it felt like my fallopian tubes were going to burst. I had them run the ultrasound over them, but they saw nothing and all was fine.

Go Go, BMW: I'm so sorry you're having all this uncertainty and scariness. Best of luck from me, and huge hugs. xxx

I'm showing already (which I did last time, was in mat jeans at 11 weeks!!) this is annoying though cos looks like people will start guessing soon.

GoGo_dancer

go go....do you have your bloods today?or was it a scan?

Had my second lot of bloods today, should get the results later....although from the first lot of bloods it's not looking promising. The HCG count was really high so it tied in with my original dates which put me 7 weeks, so the chances of it being an very early pregnancy sac are pretty much non-existant.
If this count has gone up then I'll have to wait 10 days for another scan and it's the same, or gone down then I'll be arranging a managed miscarriage.
I think I know deep down that it's going to be bad news, I just kind of want to get it over and done with now and move on to attempt no.3! :D

Anyway, I'm aware that I may be freaking some of you out and scaring you senseless before your scans so I'm very sorry if I have!! I shall still be following your progress with great interest and I really hope you all have healthy pregnancies! :D

My midwife came to my house this time. I thought it was good as my son could play with his toys whilst we filled in all the paperwork. I don't think they can listen for a heartbeat so early. I was 16 weeks when they listened.

The time will pass so quickly and it will be your scan before you know it. I was 12+5 when I had mine and it seemed ages to wait but now it only seems like yesterday and I'm nearly at my 20 week one one which I'm very excited about :D

Have never been a fan of McDonalds, but driving back from a weekend away on monday, was seized with a sudden craving and polished off a Big Mac and fries. Felt dirty afterwards!

No cravings as such, but have been feeling hungry a lot. When I feel sick, eating something seems to help as well. Have bought some Ryvita so I don't eat crisps and biscuits all the time (though in actul fact, I'm just eating both!). Used to be an avid tea drinker, but seem to have gone off that the last few days.

Morning ladies

Just exploiting works internet seeing as my home internet still isn't set up!

BMW - I was so thrilled for you when I read your post, you must be so relieved and I really hope the rest of your pregnancy is complication free!

Been holding up ok-ish. The house move went well, but once we finally sat down for 5 minutes it hit me hard and I was in a bit of a state on Sunday, been all over the place ever since, feeling very fustrated (especially as I still have morning sickness!) and caught up between trying to hold on to that little bit of hope, and also being prepared for the worst......just really want to get Thursday over and done with! :(

Hope the rest of you are holding up ok! Oh, and I've found that nibbling on ritz crackers is great for getting rid of that awful sick to the stomach feeling if anyone wants to give it a go! ;)

I felt quite queasy this morning - like I was hung over but without the alcohol!

You don't see the doctor at my practice now, you just ring the midwife and book in with her directly. When I saw the doctor with my son, it was a very short appointment. They either refer you to the midwife or give you details of how to contact them and then just note down that you are pregnant. They don't actaully confirm it as they don't normally do tests. If you have had a positive home pregnancy test then that's all the confimation they need. They don't repeat as standard.

Congratulations. Hope you get sorted with a nice midwife.

Hi All,
The doctors was fine - just as you'd all said - I took some pee though (felt a bit silly afterwards!).

They have told me to come back in about a month to see the midwife. It was a bit of a non-event really. I was surprised that they don't do pregnancy tests now - good old NHS.

We have told our direct family now - it was nice but everyone is fussing and I am not a fussy person, I do appreciate that everyone is very happy and excited though. I seams like a long time away (early Jan).

I think I am going to go for a snooze now as I am not sleeping well.

Take care.

Hi ladies, thanks for all your kind words and wishes, unfortunately it's not good news. The scan showed the sac hadn't changed so after a chat with the consultant, we've opted for medical management.
I'm going in on Saturday for the first lot of tablets to block the hormones and then I'm back in at 7.30am for the next lot of tablets to induce the miscarriage. I'm heartbroken, but also relieved that the waiting is over.

So I'll be leaving the 1st tri thread, but I'll be checking on here to see how you're all getting on. I hope you all have healthy and happy pregnancies and I'm sure that I'll be back very soon to start another 1st tri thread for the springtime!

Oh, and just to make you all jealous, I'm sat having a large chilled glass of chardonnay and my god it's good!! :P

so all in all 1 hour 20 min sleep, now wide awake but feel rotten but hey i dont feel sick now im not trying to sleep, sod laws

Have been quite lucky with the sickness. Had some nausea around week 6-7, but was never actually sick. It seems to have eased off now, but I'm constantly hungry, but don't fancy anything specific to eat, which is weird. Still gone off tea, which I used to drink by the bucketload!

By the way, do people have dates for their first scan at Jessops, and if so, how far along will you be? I'm getting on for 9 weeks and I haven't heard from them yet. My GP told me they scan at 13-15 weeks which is later then I expected (and if true, really annoying as we were hoping to tell family before then!)

I know a couple of people on here have their scans at around 9 weeks but I think that's quite early. I have just had my 20 week scan but I had my first scan at 12-13 weeks. My friend who is due just before me had hers at 15-16 weeks (which I do think is a bit late). When did you book in? I booked in at 7 weeks and got my scan through at around 9 weeks.

bluecanary
20-05-2009, 08:55
I booked in (as in going to my GP) at between 7 and 8 weeks (I know this is probably later than most people). I really hope to hear soon.....

Corbyn
20-05-2009, 10:21
When I asked on here people said they normally heard about 2 weeks after booking in. That was the case for me too so I think you will hear soon. I don't think 7/8 weeks is that late to book in. I was 7 and a half weeks when I saw my midwife as that was the app she offered me (you go straight to midwife at my docs, don't see doctor).

Don't worry about your scan being a little later than other people's. A lot of people like to wait until they are 12 weeks until they tell people so it's quite nice if your scan coincides with you reaching 12 weeks. It's like 2 reassurances all at once. That's what we found this time. Last time I was 16 weeks when I had my scan so I told people first.

I remember somebody on here saying that they rang Jessops to ask when their appointment was. It may be booked but you haven't received the letter yet so I would give them a ring if you are really desperate to know. Good luck.

Glad it all went well. Always good to be told you're further than you thought! If you just want to see your baby again then great go for the private scan but I was just thinking if it's more for reassurance you might want to wait and see if you start to feel the baby. I felt this baby at 15-16 weeks so that provided me with the reassurance I needed up until my 20 week scan. Now is the longest wait as I don't get to see my baby again until it is born!

Hi All i bled loads yesterday clots and all, got up in the middle of the night to use the loo and passed out, my husband heard the bang and came to see what was up he says i came round and passed out another twice, then had a fit, i dont remember, he took me to the northern as that's our closest hospital where i passed out again, i have never felt that crap in all my life, every thing was spinning and blurred, the northern transferred me to the hallamshire via ambulance, new experience for me, where i spent the night being a pin cusion poked and prodded, and no sleep at all, i lost a lot of blood that's the reason for the fainting, blood count of 8, apparently you are supposed to be over 11, and have been on a drip and given iron tablets, i still feel dizzy for a few seconds once i stand up, i have misscarried again and will now be looking into having a sterelisation, i cant keep doing this and i do have three kids, this has really shaken me up, i wish you all the very best of luck with your pregnancys and babys thanks for the concern you have shown to me.

I've been feeling pretty normal for about a week now. No sore boobs, no sickness or anything. I was pretty calm, that was up until reading on a baby forum i'm on that a lady went for a scan at 10 weeks and the baby measured the right dates but there was no heartbeat so that's set me off worrying now

At 8 weeks gestation 98% of pregnancies in which a fetal heart beat is identified, will continue to term.
At 10 weeks gestation 99.4% of pregnancies in which a fetal heart beat is identified, will continue to term.

Hi Binty, Spotty, BMW and everyone else, I'm just quickly popping in to see how you're doing, so glad you're all still here!! I can't believe you're all just about hitting the 12 week mark already, it seems to have gone so quickly! It's just a shame I can't still be there with you!

But without wanting to be glum, I'm doing ok, the last few weeks have been really hard but my other half has supported me all the way and my friends have been amazing too. We've still got a while to wait before we can try again, so to take our minds off it we're booking another holiday for later in the year (yay!) and keeping busy decorating the house and stuff.
I'm back on my diet too, managed to put about 8lbs on with all the pregnancy cravings & snacking, and then with all the comfort eating I did, so no more chinese takeaways for me! :(

Anyway, I'll still be checking up on your progress and I hope you're all going to post pictures from your next scans so I can see all your little christmas puddings! :D

Look after yourselves girls! :)

Great to hear from you Go-Go. Sounds like you're coping with things really well, and a holiday sounds like a great idea. If I were you I'd be getting a few drinks knocked into me tonight (I'm sure wine isn't that fattening, is it....?).

Spotty, your statistics are reassuring. I had a scan at 7 weeks, so it sounds like there's a reasonably good chance that everything's OK. There's just this little voice at the back of my mind that say's "you can't be that lucky...". My 12 week scan is on thursday, so looking forward to being able to relax for a little while (fingers crossed!).

They say theres no reason you can't start trying again straightaway or when you feel up to mentally thinking about that again but do recommend you leave it until you've had at least one period so its easier re dating purposes if you fall pregnant straightaway. Personally I don't feel strong enough yet to think about it as really frightened that if I fall pregnant again and the same things happen I know I'm not ready to deal with that yet.

Hi - Sorry if I'm butting in but just wanted to say that a reason for waiting is indeed until you have had at least one period after your mc (not the actual loss) is not only so that you know where you are in your cycle etc but it is also so that the lining of your womb can 're-build' to make it more likely to be ready for another pregnancy to implant properly

Hope this makes sense

Good luck :)

Hi Fooman, so sorry to hear your news. I still have the odd down day but it's better to just go with your emotions and allow yourself to cry/rant/scream if you feel like it! I bottled all my feelings up after my first miscarriage and it really took it's toll on my health, so I'm just taking each day as it comes for now and also finding that it's getting easier to deal with.

Hello, I'm new to this thread.

I found out last week that I'm 6 weeks pregnant which I'm really happy to hear as me and my partner have been trying for a while now.

The thing is I had a misscarage in febuary (my first pregnancy) which was the worst experience of my life, made worse by the fact i was admited to hospital so away from my partner straight away.

Now that I'm pregnant again I'm doing nothing but worry, my miscarage wasn't caused by anything, I was told it was 'one of those things' but I can't help but think its going to happen again. It feels different this time, it's like I'm scared to get excited of think about the baby incase something happens.

Is this normal? Has anyone had a similar experience?

It feels different this time, it's like I'm scared to get excited of think about the baby incase something happens.

Is this normal? Has anyone had a similar experience?

Firstly congratulations! I'm 26 weeks pregnant with my second baby but it honestly doesn't feel long since I was just finding out.

I haven't personally suffered a miscarriage but there are many people on here who have and who will be able to offer you support/advice. All I can say is that all I did when I got pregnant with this baby was worry. I wasn't like it with my first baby but he wasn't planned and I didn't know a lot about pregnancy etc. This time I wouldn't let people talk about when the baby would be born etc until I had had my 12 week scan and I felt somewhat reassured.

I think it's completely normal for anybody who is pregnant to worry and especiallly if you have had a previous bad experience. It's been shown that most people who miscarry go on to have a healthy pregnancy so there is no reason why that won't be the case for you.

Have you booked in with a midwife yet? I would do that soon if not as I found talking to my midwife about my worries helpful.

Try not to worry and good luck with everything.
