Im lucky.

I get to stay in.

My other half has decided that New years eve should be spent at home in front of the telly, watching the usual crap thats on at that time of the year.

Somebody please kill me.

me and my other half are off to the Staindrop Hotel at chap, hopefully for something to eat and then staying on there afterwards, usually has a good disco and the atmosphere is pretty good, plus its within walking distance home, or should i say crawling distance.

Hi all,

It has been promised for some time but The Leadmill will be home to a not to be missed, massive party this New Year's Eve!

We are having a truly spectacular light and visuals show throughout the night, with live camera feeds and visual displays, so if you're lucky enough you will be able to see yourself dancing on one of our 2 giant 8ft screens that will be on stage!

We'l be playing the best in the years music along with chart and dance classics in the main area, with the second and third rooms dedicated to the finest indie, mod, soul & motown! There truly is something for everyone!

It will have to be seen to be believed. The Leadmill's New Year party will be one that will be remembered for years to come. It will be one big party from 10pm-3:30am, with lots of party poppers, streamers and the like to help you along the way!

Then, at 1 minute to the new year you can countdown to 2007 with the help of our huge displays and live action from Big Ben himself!

tickets are £13 adv and will get you in especialy quick. Hurry though, they are going fast, and are limited, so check out ticketweb (0870 010 4555, ticketweb.co.uk), Jacks Records (0114 2766356) , HMV high st (0114 2634275), The Globe, or the porter cottage for your tickets!

I worked last New Year at Limit/Niche, but will be going out to Dempseys this year. Fuel was suggested but to be honest its a sweaty sardine tin at the best of times at the weekend so New Years likely to be pretty offensive.

don't mean to sound like a prty pooper - but i think new year is the most over rated night ever! everywhere is over priced (including ridiculous taxi prices), crammed to the fullest, yet not much different to any other night of the year. plus, there is such a huge pressure to have the greatest night of the year that it ruins the enjoyment. (ok, i DO sound like a party-pooper). having said that however, i will probably go to manchester or amsterdam as that is where my mates are going, or i might just even stay in and see in the new year with my mum, sister and little brothers!

I went to crasher classics on 27th Dec last year. Cost £20 adv and was a good night but soooooo packed and not at all cheap. Didn't stay long to be honest, so not sure what to do!

I'm definitely not going to Kingdom tho' - vowed never to set foot in there again and I'm sticking to it LOL!

Fuel is an option though, definitely!

Last year I'd been working til quite late and work were paying for a taxi home, so I got the taxi home and stayed there... was totally crap! :(

The few years previously though I had been in Newquay for Christmas and New Year and I have to say the first time I was down there for New Year was the best New Years I've ever had..... sadly work commitments won't allow me to do this anymore... infact I'm lucky to have got any time off over xmas at all!!

Still in need of ideas...! LOL

*Turbo*
13-12-2006, 10:48
Only other idea's are either Dove & Rainbow or DnR if you like alternative instead of rock.

Other one is Casbah, are they open? i dont know!!

Mr Scruff is also playing a small intimate gig at the Music Box in Manchester that looks cool.

And if you got the £££, I hear Madrid is great new years.

Staying in with family for New Year, sorry but I just can't see the point in spending the night at some crowded Pub where they hike the prices cos it's New Year's Eve and consequently it takes you upwards of 30 minutes to fight through crowds of ****** up revellers to get anywhere near the bar for a drink...

I know how you feel... We usually end up at my Nan's on New Year's Eve or they come to us, and every year since the Millennium celebrations, all you hear is the mad BANG BANG BANG RUDDY BANG of fireworks.

Rather taken aback when all the men went round kissing the ladies, but got used to it!

Because the other friends I would have tried to get together with have small children and stay in with their families. Even if they do want to get together it involves immense preplanning and clock-watching to get back to babysitters etc.

There was no subtext or anything to my post, it's just a matter of fact. When you're in you're thirties you will know what I mean. :)

I did a google search for "New Year Sheffield" and hey I'm here ... and still haven't found somewhere to suggest to our friends coming to stay with us.

Do you get a blank page when you go to http://www.staindroplodge.co.uk/ ??

Does anyone know Tankersley Manor's website? Yes, I have googled, but I don't want tripadvisor, laterooms or expedia! It's not http://www.tankersleymanor.co.uk/ !! (Oh and they're not answering their phone ... ahhhhhh!!!)

Basically our friends are coming over from Milnrow for a quietish (but not too quiet) NYE. We're too old to be messing about with night clubs and want something a little bit special, but not too pricey. (The New Year's Eve Gala Ball at The Hilton is a bit OTT at £75 a head)

So, not a night club, something to eat, not toooo porsh or pricey, but not the local either (well not our local haha) ... that's it!!! What has Sheffield got?

We've reserved a table at The Milestone (didn't they do well in Ramsey's best Restaurant?) but I'm not sure it will be lively enough for NYE and we'd probably enjoy it more another time. (Friends are over again in Feb).

They've suggested a couple of places near them, but it's our turn. C'mon Sheffield, help me to show off what we've got! There's gotta be somewhere that's right for us old f**ts ... ? (or am i being too grumpy and picky without realising it?)

Hi

Wheres everyone going NYE this year
This last cple of years Sheffield's gone down hill...rapidly
Anyone know whats on or happening this year?

If you off to Mingdom than dont waste ya time replying...:gag:

Im staying in and having a few cans in the house ,as the alternative is to get ripped off at the bar, stand queueing for an hour to get served ,stand in a pub where you cant move ,get ripped off for taxi`s and spend a fortune for what exactly ?

Waste of money is new years eve ,and just one big rip off . But if people are stupid enough to allow themselves to be fleeced ,thats they daft fault.

Its feet up in front of the footie for me tonight .:)

Last year I joined my FA group at barkers pool and after midnight it was very interesting seeing the amount of people falling over, freezing to death, caught in fights endless!
But this year I'm Off to a house party with friends lookin forward to it.

We're having a party, nothing wild, just a chilled out affair with a bunch of friends.
