Its been disgusting the amount of T.V.soaps on this Christmas. They were every half an hour on each chanel.I dont watch any of them normally, in any case, but they were lined up like sardines in a tin over the holidays.Disgusting !!!!!!!!!!! :rant:Best programme on over Christmas ? The film "Babe" , and they put it on as I was cooking dinner.!!!!

I watched a bit of Emmerdale but not the other two. Too busy messing about playing games and I even managed to take the dog out for a walk!

The Christmas TV schedules are chock-full of misery-laden soaps, old films of dubious quality and reality/celebrity rubbish. There are several episodes of 'Mythbusters' on Discovery over the festive period though, which is enough to keep me happy.

Thank goodness for laptops and wireless internet. I'm at my parents' house and my mother has had all the soaps on. Yesterday evening it was three hours of Eastenders, Emmerdale, Coronation Street, then more Eastenders. Great.

What annoys me about Eastenders is that every year, even at Christmas they ALWAYS put some ultra depressing storyline on about someone dying or whatever! Why?! Stupid BBC!

And what's worse, is that they keep the homegrown soaps on, but they cancel Neighbours till the New Year! I'm sorry but... What the hell?! :loopy:

There's been a sharp rise in the amount of DVD movies and box sets being given in my family at Christmas - given the abysmal quality of festive viewing (Harry Potter on for the THIRD YEAR IN A ROW!? And it's not even as if they've shown anything other than the philosopher's stone, either) it's usually to guarantee we have something decent to watch!

And why must Eastenders always have a depressing storyline? Statistically Albert Square must be the worst place to live in the universe.

The Two Ronnies on ITV3, ok they are old but the quality (even with Elaine Paige dragging them down) is still far above anything that passes for entertainment today

Why not create a storyline where the whole cast are killed off and then this garbage can be thrown off our screens once and for all.

I'd go with that one- but only on the condition that they used the spare time in the schedules for something that wasn't

a) a repeat
b) a reality show about decorating or watching people doing nothing
c) an unfunny sitcom with canned laughter over it.

Hear, hear. Have you seen that cr*p called "My Family" or something odd like that.A kind of English sit-com that we know they are only putting on because"the kids are still up".!!! Thank goodnes for Sky t.v.and their documentary chanel. National Geographic are very good.

Well, I confess I do like my soaps, but agree that Christmas wasn't really the time to have them wall to wall like they have done.
Having said that, the rest of it has been such a load of rubbish that we would have ALL probably had trouble finding anything suitable to watch and sadly, not everyone has family and friends to share their Christmas with....
Hope you all enjoy what's left of it though:thumbsup:

Soaps are cr*p at the best of times, but seems like Christmas is when they all come up with the most depressing, annoying or downright stupid storylines. My mum said she watched the soaps only at Christmas just to see what tosh they could come up with.

I've grown to hate soaps with a passion. My relatives have started getting into them now they're old and just sitting around all evening and this addiction (cause that's what it is) just ruins any time you spend together. Christmas Day and there's soap on from 6.30 - 9.30! Three hours sat staring at trash on the box! :loopy:

I know one of the Emmerdale writers and he says it's a load of tripe himself; they rehash old stories on a rotating system and deliberately put in things to shock the audience to reel 'em in at times like Christmas - regardless of whether it fits the plot or character. Apparently they sit around in the script meetings laughing themselves to pieces at ever more ridiculous storylines and then it goes out on telly and people sit and take it all seriously! :hihi:

Not watched a lot of tv over this Christmas period although I haven't missed Coronation Street. Thought the Christmas Day show was quite funny in parts.

Also have to admit to watching White Christmas on tv last night for what must have been the 50,000th time.
