I need some advice from any Rottweiler owners,in relation to the wearing of muzzles.
Is it a legal requirement that the dog must be muzzled ?
I dont want any advice from the "All Rotties should be shot on sight Briigade" as your opinion means nothing.
Hi
We have a Rottie mate, fantastic dogs would not have any other breed.
As far as i know they don't have to be muzzled, well ours is not anyway. Go to this link and ask on there its a Rottweiler owners forum

Hi, i am from the newly formed (Infact there's only me for a member!), 'There's no such thing as a dangerous breed of dog' forum.
As far as i am aware, there is no law stipulating you must muzzle a rottweiler and as far as i am concerned, there never should be a law to this effect!. Just because you own a big powerful dog, does'nt mean it's about to eat every child in sight.
If this was the case then every body builder in the world would be walking around with a muzzle.
Sorry for deviating from your original question but i too own a so called 'dangerous' dog and would muzzle the poor person that ever tells me to put one on! :)
We love Grotts :D
Nah, they don't need to be muzzled (just staying on topic there ;) )
A friend of ours breeds king charles spaniels. When they got their first as a pup, the neighbours reported them for having a dangerous dog as they believed he was a Rottweiler
Yeah, right (http://www.hurricanedogs.com/fran_and_sophie_asleep_better.jpg) :suspect:

I see Rotties out and about every now and then and have only seen one muzzled, the owner explained to me that his dog hadn't been socialised and so couldn't be trusted with other dogs although he was fine with people.
Dogs of any size or breed may require muzzling if they've been brought up badly or been allowed to become aggressive and so rather than muzzling I'm a big believer in good training. for ownerss and dogs

Dogs - the law (http://www.canineconcepts.co.uk/ccp51/cc/dog-behaviour/dogs-and-the-law.shtml)
Basically dangerous dogs should be muzzled in public, and any dog can be deemed dangerous.
So no - it is not the law that Rotties should be muzzled, unless its a dangerous one!
