You found this website????
Yes, after I met the girl and guy running it at a great event the other week.
Go to the Forum on a Tuesday night, or go to Cubana's on the weekend. Free dancing, and maybe some classes. (Unsure of Cubana's classes and salsa nights, cos I know some nights, it rotates. But you can check their website.) I thought there is a crowd of hardcore dancers, which is pretty good considering a city of this size !

Considering Sheffield is the Fourth? largest city in England the standard, quantity and 'hartdcoreness' of the Salsa dancers is, shall we say not good.
If you're a keen Salsa dancer neither of the above venues are 'hardcore'. Both venues, Cubanas especially, play a mix of music which ranges from Latin Pop to Mambo. Unfortunatly they tend to lean heavily towards the Latin pop end of the spectrum. You might get 1 decent dance track in 4, if you're lucky.
Neither venue has a decent floor, both venues have a large propotion of non dancers who drink lots and then think it's okay to swing each other around ( a dangerous activity for those in close proximity), neither venue is non smoking although the Forum has a muich better ventilation system so is not so noticable - unless of course the people smoking are also swinging each other around on the dance floor, which is a common occurance!
If you just want to have a drink and bop around to latin music then yes the Forum and Cubanas are nice venues, the atmosphere at Cubanas is especially good (my personal preferance) as is their food (probably the best Tapas I've tasted outside of Spain).
If however you want a hardcore Salsa night with good floor, good range of dancers, and hardcore Salsa dance music then you're very limited if you want to stay inside the City limits.
Trying not to be negative but wouldn't want non-dancers/not City dwellers to be mislead into going to the Forum/Cubanas and thinking that they are representative of fantastic Salsa venues full of fantastic dancers and playing fantastic Salsa music cos they're not.
All of the hardcore dancers usually travel to other Citys in order to get their dance 'fix'. If they go to a Sheffield venue it's usually to have a drink and a socialise. It's been that way for years and to be quite honest, I can't see it changing.

How come you're not listed on the site yourself?
You should check Salsa Power.
what's the site? I don't know Salsa Power? thanks for the idea though

I love dancing - but wouldnt know how to do salsa - but would be willing to learn. so i will pop to forum on a tuesday night. does anybody know how to breakdance as i would love to do that!!
During University term-time The Interval Bar in Sheffield Union has been doing 'Sabrosa' for a number of years. I couldn't comment on the quality of the music/dancing but the people who go seem to have a good time.
