The number of times ive been to meadowhall this month, be it in the middle of the day, mornin or even late at night going on 9pm its always chock a bloke with people, i had to go to 3 different car parks on wednesday night to get a space! i ended up parked in a disabled space!- should not of done i know.

i JUST FIND THIS VERY STRANGE, YES MEADOWHALL IS ALWAYS BUSY AT CHRISTMAS, BUT NEVER THIS BUSY, AND ALSO THE NEWS SAYIN THAT PEOPLE ARE NOT SHOPPING AS MUCH ETC ETC JUST BAFFELS ME WITH REGARDS TO MEADOWHALL.

Does any one know why meadowhall has been so busy?

and does any one else think its ridiculous how busy it is?

Not to be contradictory but I've been twice this month, once in the day and once at night. Both times it wasn't very busy at all, it was only like a normal weeknight. First car park I went there were lots of spaces, the oasis wasn't very busy either and the walkways weren't so clogged that you had to push through people.

I will second that.

Drive to the same car park I always go to - straight up the ramp, to the left, take my pick of about 50 or so parking spaces.

Have a walk around, have a million carry bags, still manage to walk past people without getting knocked.

To be honest not had the 1 problem with meadowhall!

Now town, well that was totally different. Got lost on the 1 way roads, finaly parked. Then your freezing when going shop to shop then sweating whilst in the shop.

ISTR one Christmas, perhaps not long after it first opened, it was so busy that cars were queuing right back onto the M1. I'm told that it's less busy now Sainsbury's have pulled out.

I've been a few times this week too and not had a problem, was pleasantly surprised actually.

Me too, I was in on Wednesday afternoon and it wasn't really much busier than a normal day IMO, surprising given that it was one of the last 3 shopping days before Christmas.

Mad.

HELL!

hate, hate, hate the place. I go there under duress, if I have to go, I go straight to the shop I am wanting, I pick up whatever it is I plan to get, and then it's straight out...

we went this morning at 9am and it was very quiet apart from half a dozen people wandering the shops and people obviously on their way to work.
marks and spencers food hall was busy - there were a lot of people coming out as we went into the mall, but elsewhere was quiet.
we went to clarkes for the shoe sale (first time ive manage to get trainers and shoes for all 3 kids for under £70!!! - blummin fantastic!!!!)
left at around 12 ... it was getting busy then, but not as busy as id expected.
would imagine it will be rather more busy tomorrow :D

It's quite simple, it's Christmas, and every year it will get busier as trade increases. Oh, and thanks for parking in a disabled parking space that you're not entitled to. Apologising for your indiscretion doesn't ease matters, you're ignorant and inconsiderate and that's that.

A lot of people go to Meadowhall as they cannot think of anything productive to do. Lots of people are there, whether they buy anything apart from a bottle of pop and a packet of crisps is another thing.

Thankfully, I don't feel the need to set foot in this place. I have visited it on a couple of occasions, just after it was built. I can't cope with it! Too many people all rushing about. Everybody seems to be heading straight at you. It is also noisy......everybodies chatter is concentrated under one roof.
It isn't my idea of fun anyhow.
I have done 98% of my xmas present shopping, on-line........without a single hitch. It has all been totally hassle free, and enjoyable. It is my 4th year of shopping this way...........I expect that the 5th year will be the same.
Merry Christmas everybody.

I've been a few times his month, always early in the mornings, and it hasn't been all that busy.

But I don't think I'll risk it on Boxing Day.

Not that I need you buy anything, well apart from a new light fitting for my living room.

Meadowhell . It starts on the 1st of Jan each year and ends on the 31st December each year.

Shopping at Meadowhall (or any other shopping centre) during the last few days before Christmas (or during the post-Christmas sales) requires a particular kind of masochism. I can't imagine why anyone would want to do it voluntarily.

My own personal vision of hell is the first day of the 'Next' sale. Surely no one could possibly be so desperate to obtain the tat they've dragged down from the storerooms which hasn't sold during the previous twelve months, that they'll happily queue outside the shop at 4 in the morning? Madness!

My own vision of hell is being dragged round clothes shops in Meadowhall or Town... Thankfully Mum knows this so we don't do that much clothes shopping, only when I need a shirt or posh trousers for some family do or whatever... And even then we have to get them altered cos of me being so short... For chuff sake why can't they do dressed up trousers for people who've only got short legs?! :loopy:

I used to go to Meadowhall quite regularly on either a Wednesday or Thursday night around 7.30/8pm. Had slight problems parking but not enough that I had to try different car parks.

Never mind. Christmas will soon be over.

I went on Friday - with a pram - and thought it was going to be hell on earth but it was surprisingly quiet. We got there at lunch time and got a seat in a cafe no problems, didn't have to queue much in the shops and got round with surprising ease. As we drove home we were asking "where was everyone?"

I've been to Meadowhall this morning and it's not busy at all. :)

We got there at about 9:45, parked close to the main entrance and didn't have to wait for more than 2 minutes in any of the shops to get served  I'd say it's much quieter than the average Sunday........

I agree I could never figure out how come so many people are flying around Meadow hell during the week they cant all be shift workers.

Maybe some of the cars parked there were people parking there, then getting the tram into town (seeing as parking there is nigh on impossible)?
