I am starting a business where people who are relocating to sheffield can hire myself to find them the best and most convenient place for them to live be it rented or a place to buy. I will also find all other aspects needed for them to start a new life such as hobbies and sports they are interested in in the area, transport, doctors etc.
In addition there will be a buddy based scheme whereby they have for the first two or three months depending upon their requirements someone to ring and talk to or to go out with should they find being alone in sheffield at first a bit daunting.
It is basically a personalised service where the client accessing the service deems how much or how little they want to have help with. The aim is to take the hassle and worry out of moving to such a fantastic city.
If anyone has any comments or ideas I wold be most grateful for feedback!!
You sound like just what we needed when we moved to Sheffield!
It was really really hard to get a definitive answer of where was ok to live - we asked around various estate agents but they would all say "well it depends what sort of place you think is ok"
DUH!!
Now that we have moved here it seems really obvious what areas to recommend to people.
Luckily we completley fell on our feet and found a brilliant area and lovely house, but your service sounds very good.
Good luck.

Sounds good for someone who has never been to sheffield and knows nothing about the no-go areas etc.
I'd say your main concern would be sorting out relationships with property providers. Make sure that they won't let you down otherwise your service loses all appeal - if you pay to have things taken care of they HAVE to be done.
Other than that just good luck - nice to see some spirit and drive - I'm sick of Taxpayer funded no lifes taking up space on this little Island of ours...
cheers for the good lucks
am a bit unsure as to where to advertise though but am going to speak to a few people about that tomorrow.
ta for the word of warning will take that on board
To decide where to advertise, think about where you would look if you were moving to a new town.
This website is a good place to start! You might also consider advertising in the Property Guide. Also, could you contact the HR departments at places like the hospitals and universities to see if they would give your details to people who were relocating to sheffield for work?
Hi Emily, I will give you some very cheap advertising on our site that is related to your new venture, will pm you.

How will you find and select the buddies for people to turn to? Will you use any vetting system to pair suitable people up? And how much time would a buddy expect to spend doing this? It could get quite time-consuming, unless you were anticipating paying people to be buddies, you may find they can't spare the time.
I wish you well, though, and I'm sure it'll be a useful service.
I know the buddy system seems complicated would work on basis of those who have relocated before acting as a potential support if they wanted to, they would be matched ie family and family ad they would only be used once.
I am currently trying to find a cheap but good graphic designer who will design a logo, catalogue and web page for a good price- no luck yet, does anyone know any one?
