View Full Version : Comfy Films
StarSparkle 14-09-2004, 20:49 Is it just me, or do other people have a reliable selection of films they can watch again and again when they just want to veg out in the evening?
Something that allows them to put their brain into neutral, but still provides an hour or two of guaranteed entertainment?
The films I find myself watching when I just want to relax in front of the telly and ensure there are no nasty surprises, include:
Where Eagles Dare
Sneakers
Ocean's Eleven (George Clooney version)
From Dusk till Dawn (comfy? - maybe not! :D )
Die Hard 1 and 2
Lethal Weapon 2 and 3
The 39 Steps (Robert Powell version)
Any other suggestions?

threecolours 14-09-2004, 20:59 Yeah - most of the films I've got watched loads and for some reason don't get bored..depends on my mood (sad, happy, hysterical etc..) but will chose from
-three colours blue (so sad)
-romeo and juliet (so sad AND romantic)..yes the baz lurhmann (sp?) version which most people think is crap but I think is great.
-clerks (so funny and full of great one liners-makes me laugh without fail)
Could go on but would get boring for others very quickly...
Ooohhhh.....where to start!
Where Eagles Dare - Touring Bavaria with machineguns....:)
Star Trek : First Contact
The Ipcress File
El Dorado - John Wayne, Robert Mitchum and James Caan.
North By Northwest
And oodles more!
Pulp Fiction is definately one of those kinda films- or maybe I've just seen it too many times lol

Event horizon
Fight club
Lost boys
some_boy 15-09-2004, 07:58 Lost Boys is awesome.
I also had a phase where i could watch any of the Naked Guns or Hot Shots, but i just cant watch anything over and over unless its a comedy.
Bar Lost Boys and Reservoir Dogs
The Back to the Future trilogy is an obvious one. I also like The Lion King (yes I know I'm a 23 year old male, so shoot me). Se7en is also a good one if you fancy something quite gory and have seen it a few times before so know exactly what's going on.
I watch these films again and again to pass the time whilst I do the family mountain of ironing and never get sick of them...just the ironing.

Amen to that one.... always good to pick you back up and dust off the bad day crud
Big is one of mine, and another one is The Princess Bride.... is it just me, or isn't that an amazing film... quite heavily ripped off by the last shrek film. Some of it was filmed around here too. It seems such a great and timeless film, and very popular in America... i find it hard to understand why it isn't as well known here. Watch it, it's great, especially for kids of all ages.
Endcliffe 27-09-2004, 00:44 Ocean's Eleven is quite good
Deffinately agree with Shawshank Redemption. Also:
Raiders of the Lost Ark

Also:
The Lost Boys

Shawshank Redemption
& The best movie of all time--
Willy Wonka & The Choc Factory (roll on the remake!!!)
