Mine is 'The whole of the moon' by The Waterboys. Every time I hear it is like the first. Never tire of it, never will:)

Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd!

...stops me in my tracks every time (so it's probably a good job it's not played too often!)

...however...there are SOOO many more for different moods - how can you limit it to just one!

I'll have to be greedy here and pick two, as I can't choose between the Only Ones "Another Girl Another Planet" and the Undertones "Teenage Kicks".

The first is pure joy - it just soars, and makes me feel euphorically happy every time I hear it.

The second made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up on first hearing, and does so again every time I hear the opening chords. There are no words suitable for a family forum to describe what I thought about Busted's recent remake .... ;)

"Wish you were here" is excellent!

Like you say, though, so many moods and so many tunes!

I'd go with The Waterboys as well. I'd have to throw in 'Like a Hurricane' by Neil Young.

True Timeless Classics... All were written well over a hundred years ago and are still popular... ;)

Nimrod... by Elgar... From the Enigma Variations... Has immense controlled power, to my way of thinking.

Also, Meditation... from Thais... By Jules Massenet... Haunting and sad.

Lastly, Piano Concerto No.1 in B-Flat Minor... By Tchaikovsky... The first piece of classical music that I ever listened to, one that converted me to the genre for life.
