Symptoms are:
Totally blocked nose- haven’t been able to taste anything at all for a few days, green snot.
Ears feel blocked and im slightly deaf
Faint headache
Left eye feels ‘bruised’, especially when I shut it tightly.

Just wondered whether anyone has been to the doctors with this and whether its bacterial or viral- ie can I get a prescription that’ll cure it. I want to be better for crimbo and this illness is starting to outstay its welcome

TBH it sounds like a cold - so viral.

The best thing is to keep taking paracetamol to help your body fight it, drink plenty of fluids, keep your blood sugar up and rest.

I had a stionker of a cold, but 2 days of work and a relaxing weekend knocked it on its head.

IME The green snot is probably initially a result of the cold, but can be indicative of a sinus or chest infection (deopending on where it is) but you will really know about it if it turns to that, get rested up before it does!

Reduce orange juice and all dairy products to hel combat the snot production. Black coffee is great cos it helps break it all down and allows you body to deal with it much easier. Can reduce length of a cold by half if you crack on quickly but still worth doing it now.

i havent had that cold with the symptoms you listed but my sister has that at the moment. her dr has said its just a cold & that her eyes hurt because of the sinus being blocked. she has been taking sudafed & eating lots of hot spicy foods (not that she can taste them mind) for the sinus, staying away from dairy products but has been told to drink lots of fresh juice & water. she's had it for a week now & still has it.

i have had a different cold, my nose ran for two days & got really sore from all the wiping. no blocked nose, bit of a head ache & jenerally feeling under the weather. but after two days it moved from the head & in to the chest. my chest feels really heavy & i'm coughing far too much, that much i have a bad sore throat. i hate colds & hope i can get rid of it soon as all the family are going away to scotland for christmas on friday morning & i have a long 12hour drive.
