Hi people,
I felt so stupid today :(

I went to meadowhall to finish my christmas shopping, everything was going fine. The first shop I went in was HMV, I looked round found the DVDs I wanted and when to queue to pay. As is was busy I turned the control for my wheelchair off so that no-one could knock it as they were trying to get passed.

When there was space infront I went to turn the whelchair back on and nothing happened. I just sat there trying to make it turn on, but it wasnt happening, I was sat there so long I ended up telling the people behind me to go past me. I checked if all the wires were connected fine but couldnt find anything wrong.

I was beginning to go mad so decided to call Clarke and Partners to see what I can do and this is the conversation:-

Me - Hello, Im stuck in HMV in meadowhall as my wheelchair wont do anything, I cant move it at all.
Them - Ok, get home and then call us again and we will send someone out.
Me - I cant, Ive just told you Im stuck in meadowhall.
Them - O, well Im sorry be we dont do call outs to anywhere else other than your home. Just get home then call us.#
Me - I cant B****y get home Im ****ing stuck in meadowhall, and if it doesnt start moving soon Im going to ****ing kick this B****y thing all over.
Them - There is no need for that now is there
Me - Yes there b****y is, can you pu me through to a engineer then so he can walk me through how to do some checks or something.
Them - No Im sorry we dont do that, just get home then call us
ME HANGS UP ON THEM.

I eventually found someone in my phonebook with a car large enough to throw the wheelchair in the back and called them so I sat there and waited.

I was sat there about 5min when a young lady came over and said "are you ok, would you like me to ask my husband to push you out of HMV so you dont feel crouded" she was so nice and was the only person who offered to help (Thankyou if your a member of here).

As soon as I got home I called C&s again and organised them to come and repair the chair. I also asked where my new chair is that should have been here in November and they said "Erm I dont know call the NHS and ask them" so I did. They told me that it was at C&P and they should have delivered it weeks ago so I should call them again. So I did, C&P said o yes its ready we will deliver it wednesday.

So why the hell didnt they tell me that in the first place.

Now Im in a bad mood because I havent done my christmas shopping, I wont have a chair till Thursday so I cant go out and C&P lied to me about knowing where my wheelchair was.

Im so sorry about you're experience! I cant believe c&p treated you like that and just expected you to make you're own way home when you couldnt even move!!! Thats appalling and you should make a formail complaint.
I hope you find somebody to take you Xmas shopping so you can get it all done, good luck and hope you have a good xmas after you're bad day xxx

"get home and then call us again"- how ridiculous?! It's like your car breaking down, ringing up A.A and them telling you to drive home where they can pick you up (but obviously it's much worse- a car can't be compared to mobility in your case).
Definitely something to pursue further.

This is just so indefensible- it sounds like the person you were talking to just has no concept of how these sorts of things affect people with mobility issues, which makes me wonder what on earth they are doing working for C&P.

I'd pursue this too- especially as they have such an ongoing relationship with most of their customers so it's not like you're going to lie to them when stranded.

Calm down, DO NOT have a heart attack; all you need to do is wait. Someone else is bound to crack and kill a few members of C&P senior management soon. Alternatively, if you conserve your own life by living in a stress-free buddhist manner for long enough, you will outlive them all and have the last laugh. Small consolation at this point, I know, but ultimately gratifying.

My new wheelchair arrived yesterday :) with an appology from C&P

They also told me, that hthey believe either the AA or RAC will pick wheelchairs up if its an emergancy, so if anyone here know anything let me know :D

I have already started to pimp my wheelchair up, I have a german number plate, an official Porsche badge, rear fogs and knight rider lights on the back so far. Next to be fitted is the underglow kit

suprised you managed to get into hmv let alone find what you wanted. i went other day and had trouble getting round shop with my tandem buggy, things blocking aisles, people edging past then standing in front o what i was looking at, grrrr. typical o them to say they dont have your new chair then it turns up:suspect: but feel your taking mick abit with the boy racer spruce up. if not you'll definately get noticed:hihi:

Well Im not scred to ram the wheelchair into peoples ankles, also the wheelchair is pretty quick as setting off so the slightest gap and the wheelchair flys into it.

This isnt the first time Ive pimped up my wheelchair, infact with my last one I actually too it to Source Cars in Thorncliff and they added some lights, but it was very expensive.

On my last one I put a NOS badge on, and the amount of idiots that actually thought my wheelchair had NOS was stupid lol
