ther not trustworthy - u dont need there friendship - they take you for granted - let them go now!

Often, the act of promising is because a person doesn't want to let you down.

There is a guilt issue there that they feel they are letting you down if they don't promise to do it.

At least by promising they are delaying the letting down in their own head until the last minute.

I have learnt not to expect things, and not to rely on people or see a 'promise' as something set in stone.

As peoples lives change, and they may promise something and actually mean it - but then get knocked down by a bus tomorrow.
