The Walnut Club in Hathersage has a chef that trained under Jean-Christophe Novelli at his multi-star restaurants, and comes well-recommended.

Apparently (according to caterersearch) the Old Vicarage is the only star awarded in Sheffield.

Can also confirm the Vicarage is great, will be their for Xmas Lunch on Monday, £95 and worth every penny.

If you don't mind travelling a little, there is also the Box tree at Ilkley, and Wintringham Fields just north of scunthorpe, (under new owners, but still a great meal)

Oh and also Fischers at Baslow has had a star since the mid nineties.

Hi there

The Old Vic is fab-and there is also Fischers at Baslow which is apparantly lovely, but i haven't been there. There are also some pretty decent rooms attached as well and it came recommended from someone who I know enjoys lovely food.

Why not go to both!! :)

The Walnut Club has not got any stars, people are simply falling for the marketing. What on earth is "Michelin aspiring" food? If your food is original, of a high quality then the Michelin guide will award you a star(s). If your not up to standard then they won't - aspiring to be something has nothing to do with it. Fischers and the Old Vicarage are the only places in the area with stars.

The old vicarage is well worth a visit i dont think price is an issue when it comes to first class food.
