I considered ebay, but theyre going for ~280. Not enough to justify flogging it.

£440 on Amazon marketplace is a different story.

The allocation apparently sold out in 45 mins.

anyone had any luck queing up for them outside various shops (Virgin Megastore, Toys R Us, Game etc.) cos I think thats going to be the only way to get one before christmas at this rate. There always seems to be a queue of people outside virgin every morning.

We need inside contacts from the various stores to tell us good citizens when deliveries are expected. Espionage! Power to the people! Etc!

I preordered mine from game in september so I've had no problem. Can't believe how popular it is and all of the stories I've heard about people trying to get them before xmas. In America they're selling five time more than the
PS3's.

It's Nintendo's fault because they didn't expect it to sell so well, they've only shipped 50000 to the UK which have all been sold out during preorders.:loopy:

Nintendos are aimed at kids, always have been, always will be.. So little Timmy's bound to annoy his Daddy into submission to buy him one for Christmas, and woe betide teh Daddy who doesn't leave little Timmy a Wii under teh Christmas tree for next Monday.

Wicked games console, i think they are aimed at non-geeks as opposed to children, I know the older members of my family would love to play games they are just too complicated for them (with 100 buttons to remember).

There is no DVD player, NO hard drive, no this that or the other, but its a fantastic little console congrats Nintendo for not just doing a "whose willy is bigger" contest like Sony and Microsoft (for the record that doesn't mean i hate them, actually i love the 260)

Well like I said before, they're beating PS3 sales in america. My wii is great, alot better than I thought. I don't think that anyone should expect it to be the top console, graphics wise etc when it's less than half price of the others. It's the first fun console in a while most games were all violence and mainly for men, but wii appeals to everyone. PS3's are well overrated, too expensive, very big, ugly and heavy. Projected sales for this aren't very good whereas the Wii is projected to continue selling well for a while yet.

Yay for Wii:thumbsup:

:O

I thought a selling point of the wii was a cheap price? About £180?

Yeah it should cost £180 and in the box you get the console, the controller, a nunchuck, all of the leads and wii sports.

Be careful with bundles coz they could work out more, some places are charging you more for what's already in the box:D

Just checked Argos in-store this morning (Castle Market store). No joy. Would people be so kind as to post Wii availability up, as and when you hear of any in stock today? I need to buy one for the nephew (ahem)

I think it depends what you are after - I like multi player fun games - much as th sports game seems to be, the sort of thing you can dip into and don't need to dedicate too m,uch time too. My other half is very into his computer games, but has a very good games pc, and generall prefers PC games to console ones.

All in all its not really worht getting one of the more expensive top of the range consoles, the wii is much more what I would be after.

essentially, the PS£ and 360 are for a different market to the Wii, so really they shouldn't be in direct competition.
However, I'm gonna wait a few months and see how many recalls of the controllers they have! Always the same with this kind of new technology there will be teething troubles!

A mate of mine owns his own computer shop and he tells me they aren't what thay are hyped up to be . A lot of people think that until they try them.

My mates were all against getting one until they had a go on mine, now they all want one :D

Unfortunately a lot of people judge them on the spec vs spec comparrison, which of course Sony will win. However the DS vs PSP proved that spec isn't everything when the DS outsold the PSP and is a more popular console.

The Wii while not having the high spec to match the PS3's high spec is an excellent console. It introduces a whole new way of gaming and appears to appeal to a much wider range of people that any other console has done before. On top of that it starts at a nice low price too, making it very affordable and the demand that's been created by the low stock has only helped to boost people wanting the console and generated publicity for Nintendo.

He say's they won't be able to give them away when the new PS3 comes out.I don't think that will be the case. The PSP and DS proved that before, the DS still sells very well despite the PSP being present on the market.

Also worth remembering that it's possible to own more than one format. I have an XBox 360 and a Wii, they both get on very well in my house and mean I have two types of console to use depending on my mood.

I think the best thing to say about the Wii is don't knock it until you've tried it :D

The reason why Wii is out-selling the PS3 is that Sony can't produce enough PS3s to meet demand. There's still huge queues overnight when the rumour goes out that more PS3s are about to be delivered (where I am in New England, at least) whereas you can walk into any shop and pick up a Wii off the shelf. That's not to say Wiii isn't great - it is. They are very different machines and priced accordingly. I suggest trying both and seeing which suits you best. Having used all three next gen consoles for a good few weeks now my favourite is PS3 followed by Wii.
