We have just moved to Chapeltown from High Green and I can recommend it. Its much quieter, but saying that we were on a bus route and opposite a pub and also the main walk way after a good night out from Chapeltown.
My girlfriend says now its like 'heaven with the gates shut'.
I imagine it will depend on whereabouts the property is.
Just go and look what is going on at different times of the day, see if there are any groups of kids hanging around etc...... Goodluck with your move

Hi Bazooka, that was my very first question on the forum and I'm still here 3 years later!!! I like Chapeltown very much, we live at the quiet end towards Burncross. It's like any area in that you get kids hanging around in the centre of an evening but they don't seem to cause any grief. There's lots in the way of facilities and takeaways - don't know what the central pubs are like as don't use them (I think Scandals might be a bit of a chav-fest) but there are lots of nice pubs a minute or two from the centre. It's well connected to the city centre and yet you can see the countryside all around. Come to Chap - you'll love it...!

Cheers for the update me old chap. I will definatley take a good look around before settling on an area- also looking at Grenocide/eccesfield and possibly Hunters Bar - BUT AWAY FROM THE UNIVERSITY as do not want to be flooded by students.:hihi:

I lived in Chapeltown for a while and found it ok until I wanted to go into Sheffied for a night out....buses were a nightmare! Oh, and if you're trying to avoid studentland then I'd give Hunters Bar a miss (although it's nice!)

Constructive that!!!

i've lived there or thereabouts for 8 years and had no trouble (touch wood). Yes you do get gangs of kids hanging round Chap centre of an evening, but you get that anywhere.

Like much of Sheffield there is a large amount of greenspace in and around Chapeltown.
