I want to give my son and his friend a treat and pay for them to go to Alton Towers (whilst not having to go there myself!). I thought I could seend them via National Express Coaches, but apparently they don't go there anymore. Anyone know of any other company that provides coach or rail travel to Alton Towers ?

Try Yorkshire Traction Coachlink.

If they are no help go to the travelcentre at sheffield interchange and ask at the coach booking desk.

both central trains and midland mainline do good value inclusive deals - and other than that, best way to get to alton towers is

train to derby, train to uttoxeter, bus (or taxi) - 32a to alton towers - stops about 50m from the park entrance

The Midland Mainline package does not operate from Sheffield. You would be looking at Central Trains. The ticket is £37.00 for adults and includes:

Train travel Sheffield to Derby and Derby to Uttoxeter
Bus travel on First's service 32A from Uttoxeter station to Alton Towers
Admission to Alton Towers
