Do you still end up reading Spam mails even though they have *** SPAM *** at the start of the subject of the e-mail ?

I've recently started sorting my mails by subject just so I can read my Spam first, as my other emails are so dull :P

BTOpenWorld label messages as Spam before they hit your inbox nowadays...the only problem is that they're rather keen. All my ebay messages get marked as Spam so my script for putting spam in the trash is a bit more complicated than it should be. Oh well, at least BT try...

I have an old lineone account which is a spam trap.

I'm quite sure that more can be done about Spam, but I have a conspiracy theory that the powers that be would prefer to eventually move us to a more easily tracked e-mail system, so I think they'll let spammers get away with blue murder until we demand the introduction of a less spammable e-mail system which we'll end up paying for like the post and will be even easier to 'tap' than the current system.

And the spammers will STILL get in there! ;)

Nope, I leave the Bulk Folder on Yahoo! to filll up - I have 18 in there since opening this account in June. Not bad really. I don't even bother with Hotmail as that is where all the crap will be.

I have Norton Antispam on my comp, part of Norton Internet Security, which catches all my spam and puts it into a spam folder.

Only problem is that it sometimes causes the email server to crash cos there's so much of the fuffing stuff coming in

Funny you should ask...

I never read spam and it usually gets deleted as soon as it arrives but I decided to read one this afternoon for a change. These people really do think you're stupid!

It was from someone calling himself a solicitor saying that a person with my last name (Dr Luther F. *****) had recently died in a car crash with his wife and child and since he has no other relatives in the good ol US of A the solicitor had been searching all over the UK for relatives. Since he couldn't find relatives he had decided to look for people of the same name to distribute the good Dr Luther's fortune of about $15 million and that I should contact him asap to get my money.

Gosh I feel so lucky!

Anyone seriously seeking the origins of the word 'spam' as used to describe unwanted resource wasting communications, should start with this link. The psychology of teen males and their preponderance for repeating large chunks of MPFC material would be the fearless investigators next step.

SPAM

A selection of poor quality meat usually pork, ground up and rolled thinly to form a cheap diet for people who cannot afford better quality food.

Dip them in batter and you get spam fritters which are ok with chips.

I won't waste my time reading it but I might consider eating it.

Scan through Yahoo bulk folder because non-spam items have been sent there before but I dont read any spam. I can tell from the headers that its mainly porn and Im not that interested in nekkid ladies real, hentai or other :loopy: also dont need viagra altho the boob growth pills are always good for a laugh :D
Used to get very odd spam, once got an email offering me 8lbs of lobster and 12lbs Omagh steak... unless thats more obscure porn, in which case I dont wanna know  :gag:

I don't get mail from "known senders" in the bulk, as all the people that send stuff are in the address book.

This is the most interesting/worst spam I have got:

There's not much I can really do - apart from contact the sender directly, change back to my ISP mail, contact Yahoo! Mail help or go to GMail. (Which no doubt soon will start getting spam).
