sauerkraut 13-12-2006, 06:57 My daughters absolutely fell in love with Big Cook Little Cook when they saw it while on holiday in the Peak District and are now on at me to get a satellite system so they can stop being deprived of their heritage and watch British kids TV in Germany. My daughters, incidentally, are aged 13 and 10. :P
(P.S. Hope you don't mind me posting in this group when I'm not a Sheffield parent. Sshh, don't tell anyone...)
tinkabel 13-12-2006, 14:27 Now i hate Big Cook Little Cook, whenever its on i tend to clean my kitchen so by the time its finished my kitchens spotless, my son loves it though (not as much as 'titties' (teletubbies)) I don't tend to let him watch a lot of tv though and don't even get me started on Doodle Doo  how annoying and whingey are they lol!!
cosywolf 13-12-2006, 15:38 Not only are they very strange, but they get into your head and worm their way in and stay there, turning you into the kind of loon who, when faced with a messy kitchen, finds herself/himself spouting stupidly "Is it time to play? No it's time to clean and clear away".:gag: Or finds herself/himself humming the theme tune to Blue Cow, or asking one's partner at inappropriate moments if their 'topnotch is twitching'. Even cosycub looks at me like a mad woman when I start wriggling my fingers at the screen manically intoning "imagine, imagine, imagine a story..."
What are they doing to us?!:suspect:
Cosy:P

I love Blue Cow. My son goes and gets me when it starts.
Yellowrose 13-12-2006, 17:26 Our 3 year old is watching cbeebies now. He loves most of it and it keeps him quiet while I do other stuff. I wish sesame st would come back too. The Tweenies get on my wires most.

The very first song niecelet ever sang by herself without someone starting her off was 'blue cow, blue blue cow'. She was about 12 months old at the time.
My mate fancies him from DoodleDoo ( not the puppets)
I quite like Big Cook - he's quite sweet.
Gawd - comes to something when you are fancy people from CBeebies.
I think the Wiggles are wierd

Henrietta 13-12-2006, 21:23 I love Blue Cow
:o The other cows never ever even say "Everybody knows cows can't get on a bus!" no matter can't do whatever adventure she returns from to tell them about. Plot holes! :P

She never tells them she's been on a bus though. The plots clearly stand up to the most rigorous examination. ;)
Henrietta 13-12-2006, 22:50 "You'll never guess where I've just been..."
"What, you went into the next field ? Cor blimey! Thats moo-mazing!" :P
NatalieSheff 15-12-2006, 13:57 we found BIG/Little on the TV whilst on hols and he was fascinated so my hub decided we had to buy a Didgi box or whatever they are called. Bedtime hour is good and we love mr Tumble

My partners fave is Mr Tumble. He (partner) drives me mad by signing things and saying the word just like Justin does. He has made up his own signs for one or two things ... best not mentioned on here
Jabberwocky 18-12-2006, 13:12 All kids TV is evil.
Ever watched something called JayJay the jet plane? Ever seen Balamori? Ever noticed the resemblance between JayJay and Miss ...Hooly, or whatever the hells shes called? The teacher at the primary school.... watch it and youll see what I mean...

Oh dear. The guy from DoodleDoo is completely lacking in any kind of charisma at all...he looks completely fed up - "I wanted to be a star, and here I am pretending to talk to some puppets made of gloves. Could my life get any worse?"
I'm pretty sure Big Cook is actually one of a new generation of amazing robots designed to look (almost) entirely human but with an unending enthusiasm that in a real person would be pathological
Pc Plum from Balamory is just wrong...and Archie always looks like he fell in accidentally off either another programme or another planet and isn't quite sure what's going on.
But then, who am I to critique anything when I'm right there with my husband rooting for the story to be a Blue Cow one cos I can't stand those three annoying bears and their even more annoying guests. Perhaps Kiddies tv is actually designed to teach children tolerance towards life's more irritating people...it's not working for me, though

Both Big Sis and I have both commented that we really like the deadpan quality of Chris on Doodle Doo- it makes a change to the pathological happiness of the rest of children's TV programmes.
I know why the presenters aren't on every day- if any person tried to smile that much every day it would be likely to do horrific things to the muscle structure of the face.
Jabberwocky 20-12-2006, 10:07 There is a... he does have a slight sense of humour though. A few months ago he did a great Elvis impression and even added a few "boyos" and the occasional "Innit" to the song.
The flipping blue cow, Mr Z seems to like Blue Cow too. What is it?
I personally like Higgeldy Piggeldy House, more from the view of even though I dislike the woman and her eternal cheesiness they work incredibly well as a team and that kind of comedy isn't always easy. In fact, they must get in really well do pull it off. Not sure that I could do it so I have admiration for them.
I'm glad to see the Christmas song they're currently playing. Although I appreciate multiculuralism I'm not keen on the appraoch over the past year to all seasons and celebrations having been purely Indian. I had a bit of trouble with the spring watch and autumn thing. I feel it might be more educational and appropriate to show what the weather is actually like in India and how it compares to England at certain times of year.
But then I'm against the homogenisation, I prefer seperate cultures to remain seperate (other than living side by side) and therefore special and interesting.

Okay, now I would have liked to see that.:hihi:
Unless I'm having a really bad mummy day on a Monday, cosycub only ever gets to watch bedtime hour and Sunday morning programmes, so I guess I can't complain too much. And Big Cook Little Cook have got me inspired to brave the kitchen with him (gingerbread men last Monday). Mr Tumble is helping us learn signing so we can communicate better with a friend with hearing problems. But I still say there is no excuse for Pc Plum - in fact the only thing Balamory has going for it is it's theme tune (though that 'Which House are we going to' song and dance routine is definitely the product of a bad night on the rum).:gag:
Jabberwocky 21-12-2006, 14:51 Postman Pat has just come on with a new theme tune.
"Postman, postman Pat,
Can you tell whats in his sack?"
I can see my three year old in a therapists chair in 30 years time because of that.
Or do I just have a dirty mind...?
I used to hate the tweenies before I had my own child (which since I'm a paediatric nurse is a bit of a blow!), but when scoop jr was two we went to a tweenie live show at the arena. It was fantastic, I was in tears for most of the first half, as the atmosphere was wonderful, with all those happy children in one place. Then Bella sang twinkle twinkle, my sons favourite song- I was in floods.
Scoop jr is now addicted to thomas the tank engine, his life revolves arond it!
